Based on Dave and Beth's drive of my route this weekend, I have made several tweaks to it that should take away all the gravel yet keep all the "road mines" from the Amish carriages.
A few new highlights:
I found midway gas, food, and restrooms in the Czech Capital of Wisconsin (Visa and Mastercard not accepted, only Czechs...)
the Valleys will drive through their local and native French towns of La Valle, WI and Valley, WI
Wildcat Mountain State Park -- no wildcats nor any mountains, you figure it out...
we might ice-cream break along the bike trail in Wonewoc since by then, we will "wanna walk" for a bit ()
152 miles of "cows, barns, Amish, and cookies"

How 'bout a wine run Friday mid-day...? Let's take the 2-day run from '06-'07 and make a hybrid!
Devil's Lake, Merrimac ferry, a sampling of vino at Wollersheim, Natural Bridge State Park, and finish with the high-ball run back up Cty PF like we ended last year (that was still some of the best "driving" I have ever done!!! my legs were shaking after that experience!! )
I'm up for a swift, Friday excursion if anyone else is interested with several, relaxing stops along the way.
** Quick addition - I just mapped a 117-mile route hitting all those spots and using most of the same roads as prior runs.

Beth says you need to check with the Devil's Lake State Park people as there were a number of park roads that were unavailable for most of the summer due to washouts and flooding during the "wet" season at the start of the summer.
I'm up for a Friday run

Yep, Billy Bob said as of just before the Door Run that the road we took on the south side of Devil's Lake was still closed- but just checked, and it's shown as now open as of Sept 3rd.

Cool, it looks like we might have us a Friday Wine Run for the early arrivals!!!

VINO, VINO, VINO!!!!!!!!!
I can see that Marie is already on-board (make sure Richard is also OK - ). I'm sure Valley's and "Better" will also join in the fun.
Mel - do you still have the run routes from 2006-07 handy that I / we / Dave / anyone can pirate and blend into a single run? I started to map it out (Duwards Glen, O'Connor, Devil's Delight (), etc...) but can't recall some of the roads. This is also pending "Levee Rd" is still a viable road!!
Dave - want to meet at the resort or somewhere along I-94 for Friday AM if you want to crusie with me. Jill cannot attend so I'll be flying solo. Thinking getting up there by 10 AM to simulate our true start time (leaving Oconomowoc around 8:30 AM).
I only have 670 miles...so be gentle...
(remember those days under 1,000 on the ODO...man, she's too purty to drive ...ahhhhh...!!)

Devils Delight is nearly ALL gravel ... when we scoped it out last weekend Waaayyy too much gravel to really enjoy the switchbacks ... one of the main ones was ALL gravel. Melanie took it OUT of her run ... don't think it will be "packed" down enough by Dells weekend
