The following is the tentative schedule for the Solstices at the Dragon event.
This is subject to change as we line up more participation.

Friday, August 11
Caravan groups leave the DC area and other locations.
Arrival at hotel in Robbinsville Microtel and check-in
Car wash/touchup for folks who arrive early.
Car wash is supposed to be right next door to the hotel with four wand bays.
Meet in the hotel lot or hotel lobby as participants arrive.

7:00 p.m. Dinner at a Tapoco Lodge for 15 people.
For those that arrive late that want to join us, we will leave word
at the front desk on our selected food destination and time we left.
Dinner reservations will be under the name "Martin."

Saturday, August 12
9:30 a.m. Breakfast with all who care to join, location TBD.
11:00 a.m. Group leaves from the Microtel.
11:30 a.m. Meet in Microtel parking lot, gas up and head out to the Tapoco Lodge.
12:00 p.m. Lunch meeting at the Tapoco Lodge and join any Saturday-only meet participants.
The Tapoco Lodge is 4 miles away from the entrance of Deal's Gap on the NC side.
More info --> http://www.tapocolodge.com

This is the location where we will meet those folks who come only for the drive on Saturday.

Tapoco Lodge Resort is located in western North Carolina, 15 miles north of Robbinsville on Highway 129 and along the Cheoah River.

From Knoxville, Tennessee travel 60 miles south on US 129.
From Asheville, North Carolina travel 100 miles west on I-40, Us 12/23/74, NC28 North and NC 143 to US 129..
From Atlanta, travel 160 miles north on I-75, I-575, GA 5, US 76, GA & NC 60 North, US 19/23 to US 129 - or 166 miles north on GA 400, US 19/23 to US 129.
From Chattanooga, Tennessee travel 123 miles east on US 64, US 19/23 to US 129.

(828) 498-2435 or (800) 822-5083

This lodge is a nice relaxed place to meet up and grab a light bite before
the drive. Lots of parking available, find the Solstice group and park with us.

1:00 p.m. Gather group in parking lot.

1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Drive the Dragon

There are two very large gravel parking lots that are easy to spot where
we can meet up. One is just before the lake, the other is right to the
side of the lake. We can stop at both of them and take group pictures.

Additional Dragon runs as needed / desired
Return to Robbinsville (or home cities for day-trip folks)

8:00 p.m. Dinner for those spending the evening at Brushy Mountain Smokehouse.
Dinner reservations will be made once we have a better count on attendees.

Sunday, August 13
8 a.m. - Group Breakfast (if interested)
Depart for home cities

Susan, you're on the ball, gal. I have this on my agenda for when I hit NC around 8/12. Gives me reason to avoid going home & back to work.

I called the hotel and they have availability for that weekend and will gladly block off rooms for the Solstice Clubs.

Where I live

In the map below my house is located aproximately where the SK in skyway is, on a ridge overlooking King Gap so these roads are my stomping grounds. I'd love to join y'all but I don't have my Solstice yet - It's been ordered, a mean GXP. Anyhow, IMHO y'all should try the whole loop if you have the time. The Cherohala Skyway is an awsome ride. I'll meet y'all before you leave so I can put some names and faces together but somehow I feel my Jetta would be out of place on your ride.

Nah, you can drive your Jetta or ride with one of us. Please join us. A future owner is as good as a current owner.

Also, we could use your knowledge of The Dragon.
