I'm really pumped for this now. The roads you described over lunch today sounded wonderful, and the restaurant should be amazing! If you decide to go out for another prerun between now and then, let us know- I'd like to join you if I can. Thanks for putting this together!

Okay! I've finalized the route. Some of the changes include adding a cool little technical stretch Dozin' took us on two weeks ago. It replaces a more boring straight road. Also, the run will now terminate in Stony Brook at the stunning 3 Village Inn. This saves us a relatively straightforward last schlep into Port Jefferson and also protects our cars. The other night Denise and I tested the Port Jeff. leg and stopped for ice cream. While Lil'Oggi was parked in front of the shop, IN MY SIGHT, a teener girl sat on the fender! Parking is tight and traffic in the town is zooey.
Food, Glorious Food!
The 3 Village Inn is only a few hundred yards from our last set of twisties. They promised to provide us our own reserved parking area right off the circular driveway where no one else will go. I saw it and I think we'll get a really cool picture of all the cars lined up in lanes there. Their menu (See below) is as extensive as it is varied and is $5 cheaper than it's nearest competitor, Pentimento. It is a one price brunch menu and it will be the perfect topper for our run through the Gold Coast.
Please note: The run is over when we reach the restaurant. There is no obligation to stay for food. I realize that many people have busy weekends and this run is only a part of this one, so if you have to leave, that's OK. I will need confirmations for the brunch part, though, since I have to give the restaurant a deposit and an estimate of the number in the party.
Take a look at the menu below, then PM me if you are eating or splitting. Thanx!
Served from 11:30 - 2:30pm Reserve Early!
Welcome! Sit back and enjoy. Brunch includes
Basket of Homemade Breads and Country Muffins,
Appetizer, Main Course, Dessert and Coffee Service
Brunch Cocktails $6.00
Kir Royal ~ Grand Mimosa
Pureed Peach & Chambord Bellini
Loaded Bloody Mary
Wild Berry Frozen Cosmo
APPETIZERS
Chilled East End Tomato Gazpacho
Topped With Cold Poached Baby Shrimp & Mango
Location: Long Island, NY... a sister island to the Hawaiian chain. ;-)
At this point, I'm probably going to bail out on lunch.
I was previoulsy committed to the WALK TO CURE DIABETES at SUNY OLD WESTBURY COLLEGE, at Old Westbury, NY on September 30, 2007 at 8:30AM. The son of good friends of ours has juvenile diabetes and we really need to show our support by attending that function.
As it stands now, my wife will be on the diabetes walk for a cure while I'm our North Shore run. Then my wife and I will meet up at the luncheon our friends are hosting.
In this way, I get to go on the run AND we don't insult our good friends.

Hi:
I'm bumping this thread because I have made changes and additions to the first post (the announcement sticky).
Please check it over, specifically with respect to times, possible coffee stop added, and brunch info, and take a moment now to PM me re: your brunch plans, if you have not already done so.
Thanx,
Chris

A reminder for those of you who still have GMRS radios: Please make sure you remember to charge the batteries and bring them along. They really seemed to help with communication last time!
