Dan what time did we end last time, we were all hoping to bust out between 2-3PM to beat traffic and hopefully the weather and make it home before 6 ?!

We're starting out early, 8:30AM, and it should take less than 40 minutes to get to our injection point. With a small delay at Starbucks (which we will try to avoid ), we'll inject into the back roads of the Hamptons by 9:15AM.

During my dry run to check the roads, it took me over an hour to get to Gosman's Dock, but that was only one car, driving the route at mid-week speed (roads were empty) and without any delays at all... not even the bathroom break. And remember last year we all took a quick stroll through East Hampton. That was very enjoyable and we may all want to do that again. It will be up for a vote at the bathroom break. Then there's the Montauk Lighthouse. Last year, we all paid for parking, but nobody really wanted to go to the Lighthouse. This year, I'm planning to just do a drive-by, but that's up to youz guyz. We can also discuss that at the bathroom break in East Hampton. So let's assume it will be like last year... we stroll in town, but no Lighthouse. In that case, it might take us two hours and 15 minutes to do everything from the injection point to Gosman's.... that's a wild a-sed guess. Let's say it's 11:30AM as we roll into the parking lot at Gosman's.

How long for lunch? 45 minutes? An hour? Let's say it's 12:30PM by the time we roll out of the parking lot. Don't bail out of me now! As those of you from last year know, the ride back is significantly different than the ride out. Sure some roads have to be reused in the opposite direction, but for the most part we'll be on different roads... and my favorite road is on the way back... Old Sag Harbor Road. We'll also be driving down Further Lane on the way back... one of the most Tony neighborhoods in the country with the Summer residencies of the mega rich and famous. Unfortunately, you will see few homes, but a lot of really nice gates.

Let's say it would take an hour and a half back to the injection point. So being at the end of Sunrise Highway at around 2PM seems like a good guess.

Just so you know, on my dry run, I left Hauppauge (exit 57) just before 10AM and arrived back in Hauppauge by 2PM. So my numbers may be very liberal. We could be eating lunch by 11AM and be back at the injection point by 1PM. I'm expecting a no-worries no-hurries event that may take some time, so I'd say count on 2PM, plus or minus a half hour.

Of course they come! And tell them not to be embarrassed by their car!

I made twenty booklets, so there should be extra.

"Injection point" sounds so much kewler than "starting point". Since we drive kewl cars, it thought it appropriate.

It's just South of the LIE. You'll get off the exit and turn right at the light, then need to make the first legal U-turn to get there.

Here's a Google Map, note that it kinda makes it seem like Starbucks is on the other side of the street.

2717 route 112 Medford, NY - Google Maps

Thank you all for coming on the run today.

I want to sincerely apologize for taking off without Lil'Oggi!!! I should have taken a count and known who was last in line before I took off. I was first in line at the exit (obviously) and had just assumed (ASS-ME-ME!!!) that everyone was lined up.

Again, my sincere apologies.

And to address the 800 pound gorilla in the room...
My hopes were it would be a no worries, no hurries sort of day. Alas, that was not to be.

There was a tragic loss of a family pet today. It happened to a family none of us know. They simply lived along the route we took and their dog ran into the middle of our line.

My heart goes out to them... especially to the children. But, IMHO, none of us were to blame. We can feel badly about it, but none of us should feel guilty about it. The dog made the mistake and paid the ultimate price for it. What was said by the family was said in pain. I'm sure they realize the truth of it all by now.

Again, my heart goes out to that family. I pray for their peace of mind, but as we all know, this is something that probably won't leave them anytime soon.

G-d bless them with peace regarding this tragedy. G-d bless all of you with peace as well.

Dan...the run today was great! The scenery was awesome...and the timing with the weather could not have been better! It started raining about 2 exits from my house. That was well organized, well planned, and is much appreciated by myself and Simone.

Also, a thanks to Lil Oggi for recovering the infamous hat! That was very kind of you. Too bad Karen gave away the joke that we were going to play.

You left without us so Denise and I would not have to witness that tragedy. By the time we caught up to you, it was all over with no evidence we saw on the route. I don't think we would have been able to continue had we been involved. In the last month, we've buried one cat and two kittens and I think we are both too shell shocked to have dealt well with it.

It was an otherwise glorious day! Nice turnout, fifteen cars! A fun route through pretty back country and hardly any pretentious Haaaamptons to look at on the way out. Sag Harbor is a way cool town. The rain started after we got in the house. Amazing!

Thank you, Dan.

"And to address the 800 pound gorilla in the room...", he said, after finishing his address to the 300 pound Bear!

Dan thanks so much for putting the run together. It rained before we got home so does that mean next week we do it again on the rain date?
