That car you're talking about has a V8 lurking under those functional double scoops. The wheels have a nice stagger pattern. No need to ever rotate those tires! They look like 19"s.

Still alive and kickin'. I did notice the V8 badge on it. Looks like over 4K for the package (wheels and tires). I'll have to re-think how much I want it.

Thanks. I didn't want you to go out of your way for it, I just thought you may run into someone, that's all.

Yes Gino, that's the sound, what did you think of it,do you think that would be annoying if you heard that all the time? That car was super fast though, I like the way it shot out of the hole, like a bat out of hell!!!

IMHO, $27K is still way too expensive. I wouldn't pay more than $25K. This out of someone that paid $35K to get one. What a difference a couple of years make.

Look around. The economy is sucking wind. The percentage of the population that still enjoys a disposable income has dropped off a cliff. There is no such thing as a hard-to-get car. Hard to get boat. Hard to get motorcycle. Etc... All dealerships are bleeding money right now.

Don't settle for a good deal. Go for the fabulous deal. If you're a serious buyer, they are salivating over you. Use that to your advantage. The time for them to control the deal is over. You control the deal.

My offer would be dealer cost plus the following for free:
extras I wanted on the car,
an extended warranty to 100K miles,
free oil changes/lube jobs and tire rotations/balancing for as long as I owned the car.

I'm not kidding. I think that's a very reasonable starting offer for these times.

If that deal doesn't fly on Long Island, try contacting dealers in other States. We've been fairly lucky here on the Island. I travel quite a bit and things aren't so rosy elsewhere.

Seriously, the very idea of a dealership being in the drivers seat with regards to ANY VEHICLE at this moment in time is laughable. $27K represents a break of only a few $K off the MSRP! That's absolutely ridiculous in this environment.

I test drove a Smart For2 on Saturday. The dealer said there is a six month waiting list when I first walked in the door. He showed me a top of the line (a relative term when you're talking about such a small car ) convertible with extras for about $19.5K. By the time I was done with him I could have one for a little over $15K and delivered by mid May.

I walked. Didn't really want one. I was just curious and like to bargain sometimes. Keeps me sharp.

The weather kept most everyone away from the beach this morning. I went to meet Ed about my gas cap and found only about a dozen cars in the lot. I was the only lonely Solstice there, but the best looking car in the lot!!!!!!!!!! OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Looks like Captree is starting to charge to get in next weekend. Does that mean a move to OBI lot????
