I think it would depend on what day you plan on going. I am leaving early on Saturday morning. For anyone interested we could meet at the Nautilus Diner in Massapequa at 7:45 with the convoy leaving at exactly 8:00 am.
Excellent, I look forward to meeting you. I'll see you at the diner on Saturday at 7:45. I won't be staying over Saturday night but it will be nice to drive out with all of you.

I just got back from a prerun - the Garmin completely dropped the waypoints from Highpoint to Westfall Winery. It rerouted itself and sent me back toward Colesville. I ended up at Walpack two hours ahead of schedule.
On the bright side, I saw three peacocks, bought two pints of heirloom tiny tomatoes and a watermelon. Also found a very neat road I'll add before dinner since it's right next to the Walpack.
Going back tomorrow to do it again...

solli, I didn't realize you were off this weekend. Somehow I thought you had to work.
Shiny, Morfious and I are planning to do a pre-run tomorrow, if you would like to do it with us. We are meeting at the Holiday Inn Express at 9:30am and going for some breakfast before the pre-run. Let me know if you can join us.
Regarding the Garmin going off the route, it happened to me a bunch of times on the Gold Coast Run last week. When it happened, I would "stop" the navigation and reload the route and then it would seem to get back on track. The trick is to know when you are off track, so I'm gonna make sure I have written turn-by-turn directions with me as back-up.
Please let me now the road you would like to add near the Walpack Inn, so I can add it to the route we plan to pre-run tomorrow.
Thanks!!!!

I'll share.
Diane, I'm heading out after work (3pm) and will be driving directly up Rt. 23 to start at the Hight Point - Sunrise Mountain coordinate. I'd like to see what went wrong with the updated route because the error occured after High Point.
If you have the written directions, would you please email them to me tonight? I have last year's route but it's apparent there's been some changes made and it's not suitable to follow. Thanks.
Also, who are the sweeps? Last I heard we had one - Jason.

Oh, okay, at least I'm not crazy and you are working like I thought. I felt bad that I didn't invite you on the pre-run, but as I said I thought you were working.
I emailed you a word file with turn by turn directions, so hopefully you can follow along on those to see where the GPS is going wrong.
Also, please let me know the road by Walpack Inn that you wanted to add to the route. Tomorrow will be my one and only chance before next week to do a pre-run, and I would prefer not to add a road to the route that I don't have a chance to pre-run it first.
I asked Tom to pre-run with us tomorrow, in the hopes that he would be a second sweep, but he is not around this weekend and can't make it tomorrow. I guess we can check with him to see if he is comfortable sweeping based on his memory and basic knowledge of the area.

Diane, I've lived in NJ all my life, camped out in Stokes forest and hiked up to Sunrise Mountain with my friends, eaten at the Walpack Inn in the early days, I can recognize a decent 4.5 mile road when I see one. Nothing to worry about there.
It's really pretty simple. Once you go past Walpack Inn, make a right on Main Street and go through the little town, cross over the one lane bridge and continue straight on Tillman Road (Tillman Ravine) it runs through the forest for about 5 miles. Make a left on 206 and another left on the road that leads you back to Walpack Inn. It's just a nice loop that will eat up about 20 minutes of time since dinner is at 5:30pm and the route has been shortened which means we might arrive early.
The road through the forest is a nice way to get to 206 if you're heading back to Rt. 80 before sunset.

I'm not questioning whether it is a nice road or not. Nor did I question your knowledge of NJ or its roads.
I simply asked for the details of what road you are talking about so that I can check it out on the pre-run I am doing tomorrow and add it to the GPS route if we decide to add it.
All you said in your previous post was that you "found a very neat road I'll add before dinner since it's right next to the Walpack." Since we'll be leading two separate groups of cars next week, you knowing the route doesn't help me lead my group, and I wanted to know more about it so I can check it out tomorrow.
My understanding has always been that the Main Street in Wallpack is closed to through-traffic and ends in a dead-end a little ways down the road. From what I remember from the last time I checked it out (last year's planning runs maybe?) I had to turn around and come back out because I couldn't pass through all the way to 206. I guess they have since repaired and reopened the road.
Thanks for the details, I'll check it out tomorrow with Karen and Jason.

Yes, it is open now. Since I was heading back to Rt. 80, I made a right turn onto Rt. 206. As you come out of the forest today, would you check the logistics on the left turn? Not completely sure about a possible light, curve or a "NO LEFT TURN" sign that might be in place.
Thanks.

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Mt. Arlington, New Jersey is located in the hub of Morris County and conveniently located at exit 30 off Interstate 80.
I just got back from my prerun and everything went smoothly this time. Stopped at the Westfall Winery to update them on our arrival and found that they have a new light fantastic cranberry wine! Most deelicious if you're a fan of cranberry. Their Reisling is sweeter but not as crisp as it was last year. I also revisited the Tillman's Ravine (Stuble Road) only this time I reversed it, driving past the Walpack out to 206. The road is much more fun to drive heading toward the Walpack and also easier to loop with multiple cars following since you don't have to cross over 206.
