Would like to organize a meet and greet / Run in Austin, TX!!!

Whats going on fellow Texas Sols..I just came back from Austin (Usually go twice a month) and after driving around North Austin, I got to thinking that us San Antonio and Austin folks should plan a little meet and greet and possibly a nice two to three hour run.

I drew up a possible route on google maps and would like to know if anyone is interested in helping me organize this. It looks more or less like a two hour run and goes through alot of the beautiful parts of north Austin as well as the twisties of 2222 and 1431. So if your interested, and have more experience in organizing meets and runs(this would be my first ) I think this could be a really fun and exciting event!

Link to the map of possible route we can take

RDT- That looks really good. I have been to lots of meets but have never organized one. I think perhaps some of the Houston gang may come out. Have you posted this on the little forum? It's comprised of mostly Texans (and Honorary Texans too) You may get a good turn out for it. Dont forget to plan in potty breaks (yea, you can tell Im a mom) And of course you want to make some scheduled picture breaks too,the ending place should be some place to sit down and eat and BS about the run. I think starting at the capital is a great idea as well as a wonderful picture opportunity.

I have to agree on the saturday.
My brother lives in Austin, but he has a Porsche Cayenne. Don't hold that against him.
His wife would like to have a Sky.

wow guys, thanks for the replies! Like I said I'm not the greatest at organizing things so if any one wants to take the reigns and lead the way by all means please do!!! I'd really like for this to happen and being a new member it would give me a chance to get to know fellow Texas sols..I dont know if any of you have driven on 620 or 2222 but it really is beautiful and shows the scenic side of Austin.

Solstice Chica: I am probably going to take a practice run next week and it will give me an opportunity to pick regrouping / "potty break" areas as well as photo op locations

Like i said if anyone w/ experience at planning meets is interested in organizing this. Please do, this has great potential!

RDT, the route looks good. I would like to alert you to the fact that 2-5 miles of 1431 between Marble Falls and FM 1174 in under 40 mph warnings due to parallel road construction next to it. Also may I suggest that you substitute Lime Creek Road and Hwy 2769 for a portion of Hwy 183.

Quite honestly, since you are putting together the route, you have accomplished about 80% of the organizing process. Just pick a date that does not conflict with any holiday or other club activity. Then announce the date and place to meet on this forum and you're mostly set with organizing your first run! You need to accept that you can't please everybody's schedule and driving interests, so don't pressure yourself to fine tune the drive too much. There will always be people who can't make a particular date. Once you announce the date and time, most people who want to be there will arrange their schedules if they can.

Just my two cents.

Just my two cents.
You'll never get my ass on that road again for a meet. Our very first meet was in Austin and that was the last leg of the meet and we almost had a Motorcyclists in our windshield

If you plot it, they will come

Just get and idea of a date together. Yes some people can not make a Saturday and then again some people can not make Sundays. I love Austin and look for any excuse to get there. I lived there most of my life. As long as it's possible we will be there.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. If you want, once you get things decided I will post on the lil' forum and let those over there know what you are doing.
