NEO Kappas 2009 Schedule of Events

With thanks to AR for putting the thought in my head.

I plan on taking an organizing sabbatical for 2009 onward

Other than the 3 events listed below (which are pretty much a done-deal anyway)
I am leaving all other event organizing up to anyone else interested in doing so.
If no one comes forward with ideas ...so be it !!!

Saturday March 21, 2009...NEO SOS warm up run (weather permitting)

Weekend of April 30- May 3rd 2009 T2TR-IV

Weekend of Oct 02 - 04, 2009 T2TR- DOUBLE HEADER

****************

Now...using the same format as Mel & Mom

what other NEO events would you like to see?

Is anyone interested in static displays..if so - who will be the organizer ?
Do we need new routes ? (who will map them?)
Do we need another Winery run (someone will have to map and co-ordinate it)

If the answer to any of the above is YES...are you prepared to come out and join in the planning and road-exploring?

D-2, I was thinking of planning a run sometime next summer. It would involve touring our family's museum and a drive thru some nearby counties. Might even have a chicken bbq or cook-out. D. Allen

I'm gonna throw something out there for 2009, but I need help planning it...

Iowa plays Ohio State next year in Columbus. I'd be interested in putting together a tailgate with my Ohio Kappa friends...especially my Ohio State friends. Might need some help getting game tickets. I can apply for away game ticketd through my Iowa season tix and sit with the Iowa fans, but I think I can only get 2 tix.

Game is November 14, 2009.

Yeah...I know...it's over a year away.

I thought you might be the ticket master! OK, we'll do it! I'll need your help with the tailgate logistics, since I've never been to a game in Columbus. Otherwise, I can coordinate all the food and beverages. Typical tailgate fashion...everyone brings something. Game time will determine if we do a breakfast tailgate, or the usual fare when we tailgate.

Let me know when we'd have to start a thread regarding tix. I know I can get 2 and I don't believe I get the away game application until May or June 2009. I'd have to have a thread going by then to judge interest. You might need an idea before that. We'll figure it out!

Even if there are only 4-6 of us...I can still come up with a pretty nice tailgate spread!

Mike,

As we very briefly discussed while in Ohio, is it possible to move the Double Header to the first weekend in October?

We have had issues with the Fall Color Tour in northern Michigan with peak happening about this weekend, and thus we have been going the week earlier, which hasn't been the best for the colors. A week after the Double Header and I run into issues with Autox season enders and Nikki runs into conflicts with the Detroit Marathon.

I'd love to see attendance increase.. and I think some organization between myself (MKC), you (NEO), and AspenRose? (for the Dells trip) is in order to try to not schedule on top of each other. Not everyone goes to all of those, but the Dells and Double Header are huge and pull a lot of folks from the MKC event.

We can talk off line... just wanted to ask in here though before the event was "planned" if at all possible. MKC will be putting up a 2009 event schedule soon hopefully too.

I am only the facilitator here

if the consensus is Oct. 3, 2009...then that's what it'll be

however...CAVEAT...I believe that is only 1 week after the Dells
so that may be too much too soon for them...which is another reason I initially put
a two week window out there.

Nothing is etched in stone

put a poll on this thread and see what- if any- issues there are in moving it up a week.

Oct 10th is terrible for me if I keep my Iowa tickets. Iowa vs. Michigan is October 10th and it's homecoming!!!

Oct. 3rd is good...Arkansas St. at Iowa (who cares?!?), but agreed...it's only 1 week after the Dells and that would be a quick turn around for some who are interested in both events.

WHO puts sports events before KAPPA events?????? GEEEZ. I would think watching your team LOOSE makes for a sucky weekend..........THEREBY.....going to a well planned Kappa event is fun, eventful and downright thrilling when you get out there put the peddle down!!!!! I will be at the fall event no matter what, I will make sure KY is not sick first and I will make sure I don't see her the week before!!!!!!. Heck maybe we can all convene on the fall event. D2 you do a great job at planning any event and we are glad for our sakes that you do do it so well. A BIG THANK YOU to you for all that you do to keep us having fun.......Rub the Bald HEAD for me....

I have a vested interest in that particular game. Only that game and Iowa State would interfere with any Kappa event.

And after the way Michigan has played this season...Iowa could beat them next year. We always play them tough at home! And watching my team lose does make for a sucky weekend. But if they win... bragging rights for the next year, winning a delicious meal, and rubbing my old boss's nose in it all during dinner and for the next year...ahh....that is good fun!!! Besides, I only see him once a year...this year twice, but that's unusual.

Just.....how many tickets could you get? Could you hook up a fellow "Buckeye"??? I'd do anything to see the team play in the "shoe", since I've never been. I'd drop everything to go. Tell me this is not a dream.........

I'd put a sport event over a Kappa Event. I'll always have a Solstice, but to see the team play at home would be a once in a lifetime event for me! Hell, I cried when I saw the OSU band (TBDBITL) spell out "Script Ohio" for the first time at the Sugar Bowl in 1998. It's in my blood. Sorry.......
