some news to report today.
I handed over my map book to Coop who will load it into his GPS and then issue a googlemap link so all you GPS owners out there can download the route.
Good news is - we have decided that the Road Captains do not have to run the entire T2TR-III...only the new beginning and the new end.
We figure we can do it twice in one day.
Each loop should take about 2 hours. We 'll do the new start to the I-70 point (45 minutes) ...then go west on I-70 about 30 miles (30 mins) to SR83N and finish back at N-town.(another 45 minutes or less)
Then a quick lunch and a second loop.
I know I'll be doing it in my son's Sunfire and Danny will be in the Caliber...Pat in the Nitro (?)...
So we need to find a dry sunny Saturday..and it doesn't have to be in December.
Hopefully Mom & XMM could get over to participate in this "mapping run " too.
Seeing it on GPS and actually riding the twisties are two separate worlds.
I'll post on this thread when we have a potential sunny dry Saturday...it will be semi-spontaneous.
But we are gonna need road Captains for May 3rd for sure.

Good news
todays mapping run produced the T2TR-III warm up run ...and the NEO SOS run in one shot.
Short details...
180 miles (approx)...4 hours.....3 hrs of intense twisties
With tremendous thanks to Brother Dave (5907) for coming along and providing advice.
Dave's suggestion is that at the end of hr 3 we can split up.
He'll take the Cruisers back along some scenic smooth (read un-challenging) roads
I'll take the aggressive-types (who need MORE twisties) back (in reverse) along hour #1
MERLIN is put away till late March...but anyone who wishes to experience this new route just has to PM me and I'll take them out.
Will post a thread on NEO SOS after I get back for Puerto Vallarta in late February.
Still need road Captains for T2TR-III
Maybe not for the Friday warm up run..but definitely for Sat. 05-03
Maybe Dave will jump in later today with his own evaluation of today's mapping run.
First, let me say THANK YOU Mike for coming "out to play" today. Perfect late November weather In A-HI-A. Sunny but COLD.
Roads were FANTASTIC. Perfect combo of twist combined with some cruising space.
You did a VERY good job sniffing this one out Michael. You shouldn't hide the car quite yet!! If I dug around I think I could find a pic of a COOL covered in SNOW doing an uphill climb. Of course that is when only RABID Solstice peeps owned this thing we now take for granted.
DRIVE!!

Well, all this talk about the run routes has inspired me.
So I broke down and booked a room at the Hampton Inn. Now that I am confirmed to attend, I'm sure there will be a virtual stampede of folks rushing to book up the rest of the rooms.
Don't wait too long everyone, or you may miss the chance to party with ihawk and I at the Hampton Inn!
