not going anywhere this weekend.
Still got a head cold...so I'll run errands and "attempt" to paint the calipers
anybody got any special "DO's " & "Don't's" for me
If you are taking off the calapiers you will need a (I think) #7 metric allen wrench. I hung mine with a coat hanger and they dried within a half hour. Pop the break pads out, it makes it easier to paint.

been told to hand paint...not spray...do you agree?
Funny, I believe I'll be painting my calipers tomorrow as well. I'm leaving them on the car and will be using a brush. I think my dad is going to help me.

Since your car is not new anymore, use lots of brake cleaner.
I took mine off but didn't unhook the lines, that would mean having to bleed them when you are done. Take the caliper apart, can't remember if I ended up with 2 or 3 pieces. Just dangle the piston section from the hose, the other pieces you can do anywhere.
Cover all of your suspension with an old sheet or something. You can also tape off the surface of the rotors, and paint the hub and the outer edge of the rotor.
I suggest spraying both primer and top coat, I think it will last longer that way. I didn't, but I wish I had also clear coated them too, didn't have time to let everything dry long enough.
When you put everything back together you will probably end up scratching the paint with the spring clips that need reinstalled. Spray a puddle on some cardboard or something and use a small model brush to touch up the scratches.
You may also have to crack the bleeder valve a little to get the pistons compressed far enough to get the caliper back on the rotor. just don't get carried away and you shouldn't end up with any air in the lines.
Good luck, and take the time to let things dry well before reassembly.

I'll answer that for SC (since he's off to the land down under and I'm acting Sol Commander) and myself. SC's went well. 6 hrs and he has blue calipers. No decals yet...he'll do them later. I think he painted back a bit further than I did.
I ran into a slight snag when painting mine. The guys who put my new rims on either cross threaded or over torqued one of the lug nuts on one of my wheels. We broke the stud trying to get the lug nut off. Of course I was in Iowa when this happened and had to limp home on 4 good studs. (No comments from the Peanut Gallery please!) Almost all fixed now...except my ABS light came on when I went to pick the car up. Taking it back in this morning.
My calipers look awesome!! I went with the black decals and sprayed a bit of clear over them! Love it!!!
I'll post some pictures once I get the car cleaned up again!

And you complain about not being able to find a guy. No wonder you were limping. Okay, I'm done.
