[quote=GO_DRVN;687122]All I can say is Wow! Druid-2 you sure started the 2010 ball rolling early.
Considerations for those thinking about hosting a NASSM or any large meet:
- Large groups of hotel rooms and banquet\meeting rooms need to be booked at least a year in advance.
- Track usage needs to be booked a year or more in advance for large tracks.- Hotels and tracks will want a contract and\or guaranteed money to make the reservation, so someone will have to be willing to take that risk.
THIS is the kind of stuff I want to hear....and bygodddd a light bulb went off
Some may know i work for Goodyear Tire..
Now i'm not gonna promise anything....but I've got 35 years in...and a boatload of connexions.
Just maybe..If I am a real nice guy and take this up my food chain to Bob Keegan himself (our CEO and i do know him)
JUST Maybe...I can book the Goodyear Test track in Akron for a day...under total supervision of course.
DUMnation ............the wheels are clicking...I actually can't wait to go to work on Monday so I can start calling people.

Thanks for the support Kim
but we don't want to presume too much
this is an open thread
let's here from MASSC...the Carolinas...Long Island....and any one else
I believe MNS stated earlier that this should be treated like an application for hosting the Olympics
Right now NEO's are the only vocal ones and we would like to be able to present NASSOA (or whatever body is the decision making entity) with a proto-plan of what we COULD be capable of doing
We are not a "done-deal" by any means...we are just " actively planning"

I can't talk for the rest of the west coast but I say go for it . I have always wanted to see your neck of the woods. And if I can help from out west I will.
Druid, you know if you need anything from me and if I can squeeze it in between work and school I will do it. I think that track idea sounds amazing. If not we can still figure out some other things. I think the NEO land is a perfect place for this as there are many things going on around the area. A lot of us from MI are willing to help in anyway possible too. If there are anytimes you will need me down there I'm only a phone call away. Hopefully we can go through with this and make 2010 the best nationals ever!!
This thread was started in the Great Lakes region under the NEO's subforum for THEM to discuss the possibility of hosting the 2010 NASSM(TM) event - not out in the 'National' forum for everyone to openly discuss their thoughts, opinions, ideas, negative comments, etc.
THIS is forum for NEO's and Great Lakes region members to plan their strategies, think out ideas, toss out localities, and have general discussion with regard to how they will form their proposal for the 2010 NASSM(TM).
As each region begins to get excited and thinks of ways they too could host a NASSM(TM) event they will open up their discussion in the subforum provided for their region/club on SolsticeForum.
Each regions own discussions is NOT the place for others to place comments on their ideas, thoughts, etc. UNLESS they are asked for!
Even though these sub-forums show up as new posts - try to consider them something akin to a private chat room for each region/club. You, as an outsider are permitted to view the postings and discussion - but, please leave your comments to yourself.

GOOD POINT Kathy
I forgot that i started it in the NEO area....sorry about that ...
I agree that other regions can start their own thread in their own time frame....
or .
Option #2 is to move this thread to another area so all can discuss.
So trying to get this back on track ... I can offer my limited experience (remotely of course) to who ever steps up ... One word of advice in advance ... It's one thing to do something for 40 or 50 cars but when you get in the 200 range it is one heck of a new ball game!

Well, this was pretty much my fear. No leadership. If a bunch of different discussions are taking place, it will be pretty difficult to figure out what the hell is going on.
Again, I feel the 2010 meet could easily bring in 250+ vehicles and 400+ attendees. Do we have any kind of deadline for groups to submit their plan for hosting it? Do we have any kind of outline for groups to use to put together a plan? How many of these things have been hosted...and what is there to show for it in terms of organization?
This is PRECISELY why the majority of Solstice owners don't have a clue any of this stuff is even going on.

Well Buckeye .... we (NASSOA) have been working on the bid packets but since 2010 is at least 24 months away from happening we thought we had a couple of months before we needed to make any posts.
There are definite ways to make this 'organized' and easier to understand. NASSOA is glad to see that there are clubs and regions excited NOW about getting organized - we just weren't quite ready for them.
NASSOA is also working WITH GM to spread the word - we had a very nice meeting with 3 representatives this weekend at MECCA (more will be posted in the NASSOA forum later).
There IS leadership ..... just give some more time ... Vegas is just over, 2009 is kicking off and we are helping in some of that. So much to do and 2010 is still a ways off.
Again ... don't stop thinking and planning! There are some GREAT ideas being thrown around!

This is the very nature of a grassroots "organization". It grows from the bottom, driven by individual members, like druid-2, who want to do something. Other members offer support, still others alternatives. Some just get in the way. Eventually the chaos settles into order, and things get done.
