Sat Afternoon (06-14) Columbus area backroads

My daughter has requested my presence in Columbus (Grove City) on Saturday as a Father's day get together

She wants to go driving (read twisting) Sat afternoon

I've got the garmin hooked up but no idea where i'm going ...yet.

Coop may join me (if the fender gets fixed in time)

I'd be ready to roll shortly after noon from Grove city (somewhere)

This is NOT a planned drive....we will boldly got where few SOL's have gone before.

Anyone else interested...post here...maybe we can get a small conga line

Me too! But I'm already double booked on Saturday.

Columbus is only 5-1/2 hrs!

Druid, If I remember correctly your daughter lives very close to me in GC. Do you know specifically or more closely the time you will be heading out. i am playing golf in the AM and have a wedding to attend in the evening but may have some time in between depending on when you would be heading out

some of it depends on coop.

I plan to be at her place around noon

I'd be ready to roll around 1...done by 4 or 5...whenever

we can go 'sploring.....or someone may have an established run
(prefer NOT Hocking hills..too busy ...too much traffic on a weekend)

sort would like to wind my way south ...but am open to suggestion


no firm plans at this time except for off the beaten track twisty roads

Here's a route suggestion I have just from looking at a map...if the southern Columbus people can suggest or add something to improve the route, speak up.

104 south to Chillicothe (40 mi)
50 west to Bainbridge (20 mi)
41 south to Sinking Spring (14 mi)
124 east toward 772 (14 mi)
772 north back to Chillicothe (23 mi)
104 north to 207 (7 mi)
207 to Mt Sterling (28 mi)
62 north to Grove City (15 mi)

160 mi total...probably just over 3.5 hours of drive time. Should be some good twisties southwest of Chillicothe, and some nice cruising between Grove City and Chillicothe.

sounds like it could be good

experience teaches me that staying on roads that have few towns
(and therefore fewer speed limits) is best.
Nothing is worse that every three miles having to slow down to go thru a town

especially on a saturday afternoon when all the rurals go to town !!

Frank Rd Exit at I71S looks pretty close to the start of 104 (once you leave the city)

Frank Rd offers little in terms of places to meet up at.

Stringtown Rd exit (first exit south of I270) is probably a better place to meet up...and it is just a short drive over to 104.
