A ramp, on or off, is either a skid pad or a slalom, not a twistie.
OK, about 45 minutes or so from Chicago...there are 6 miles of good twisties. That's the best we can do. And it's closed at the end until sometime in October when the retaining wall will be finished so you get to turn around at the biker bar and go back through them...so you get 12 miles of nice twisties!
Including a very nice hill climb.

My comment was more about driving aggressively as it pertains to speed limit signs. I wish we had some Twisties.

Druid, unless I am losing more of my sight (which is possible, damn computer monitors), I did not see my name on the list. Please add, and put us down for either the cruiser or middling (preferred) group (whichever works for the final groupings). Thanks!
(Saturday only, have folks to visit in Columbus Sunday.)

Take lakeshore out by the Drake at 70+ MPH in rush hour traffic.. that's the best twisty section I know of in Chicago.
Yeah, lakeshore isn't bad, but there always seems to be a cop somewhere. I've got about a 3 block stretch out by Maywood, with a couple of nice twists, but that's about it. I think there is a nice section over by Northwestern, but again, fairly short.

mikep77 : My comment was more about driving aggressively as it pertains to speed limit signs. I wish we had some Twisties.
The point to remember when signing up for a twistie run is that there are two completely different types of driving. Agressive on a highway relative to the white signs does not equate to agressive driving on a narrow two-lane twistie relative to the yellow signs with blind turns, steep dropoffs, and trees a couple of feet from the edge of the road. Not to mention the odd bicycle, farm tractor, or oncoming car in the wrong lane that may be around that next turn.
The best approach to your first twistie run is to sign up for a moderate or cruiser group and get a feel for the driving style. It is far, far better to get with a group that is a little slower than you are. Signing up for a faster group means that you are more likely either to be pulled along much faster than you want to go, or to slow the rest of the group down.
Just for reference, I led the agressive groups on 227 last weekend (albeit maybe not as fast as some would have liked to go) but I am signing up for a moderate group for this run. It is a different type of road, with an unfamiliar set of challenges, and I want to enjoy the drive for myself as well as avoid harming the experience for anyone else.

GONNA NEED ROAD CAPTAINS.(4 GROUPS NOW) ..WHO'S VOLUNTEERING
I'm willing to take it on... as long as Nikki is with me and I get some new radios. I don't know this run, as I've only done the full T2TR twice... but this is a portion of the run, correct?
I'm not sure we will be there for Sunday's run though.. but that's doesn't mean I can't help out on Saturday. It all depends on what time we would get done on Sunday, as I have to be back in Detroit Sunday by about 7 PM, which means a 2 PM departure from Zanesville I'm guessing.

I was at T2TR, earlier this year, and have done several twisty runs over the past year and a half. I liked the speed of Druid's group earlier in the year. The roads are still somewhat unfamiliar to me, since I've only been on them once before.
Good advice if you've never run before though. Driving aggressively on the street is not the same as t2tr Twisties

the DH on Saturday is gonna get the volume
Sunday may be a little less crowded.
Saturday is down 555..through Marietta and up 26..then reverse
basically a no-brainer.
Sunday with the (hopefully) new "diddle in the middle" will be led by dashark and myself
Well.. you make the call, and I'll be good with it. I won't lead an aggressive group though, and prefer not to lead a cruising group. I'm fairly certain Nikki can take the middling group without Dramamine required!
