I must have missed something--what do CW and CCW mean?
CW = Clockwise
CCW = Counter Clockwise

It may have also been due to a LOT of gravel all over the turn, at least there was an awful lot of gravel on the turn when the last car in the line (me) got there . . . I don't know when the gravel was deposited or who was responsible for it, or even if any of our cars did it, but there was a LOT of it on the turn.
Just sayin' . . .
It's things such as those why I didn't say nuttin bout any behaviors of the said driver.
Cept that the person was pretty quiet after that!! And we haven't seen said person since!

For about a month or so, I've been staring at this date and trying to decide to commit to come--but something kept holding me back, and I didn't know why.
But, now I do...a golf outing I play in every fall has been rescheduled for this weekend. It helps support the HHS Cheerleading program, which, I know, seems to be an unlikely cause for me to devote my time and $$ toward....
until you remember that my GF is the coach.
Everybody have fun and drive safely--keep me there in spirit!
WTH!!!! You are giving up a run for love? Keep this up and we may have to kick you out of the "dog club". (Understand.. You will be missed my friend)

The woman has never told me I can't go to a run. I need to keep making good decisions to maintain that status!
I will miss y'all as well

There is a phrase that my daughter uses with my grandchild, "Mad Maddy". (Maddy somehow received too many genes from my side) Whenever she is at a decision point (like standing at the top of the stairs and considering just running down), the phrase everyone yells is "Smart Choices". I think you made one without me yelling..

And now it's time to get back to accidentally running over various types of vermin....
As those of you veterans know, every day of the run there is at least one poor sparrow, squirrel, or buzzard that bites it. Since we would like to celebrate the closing of the season for those animals which sacrifice themselves for the natural selection process (and we need an excuse to give out lame awards) I thought it only fitting we make a contest out of it.
Although I did not have an opportunity to chat with my associate today...I mentioned a Points system yesterday for the weekend festivities. This only seems fair and reasonable so that there is no bias when handing out awards Saturday evening.
Here's what I'm thinking...
Points will be awarded based on type of unfortunate critter that chooses to fly, hop, scramble, run, lay, squat, stand, slither, etc...in the direct path of your vehicle. For example...Let's say you take out a squirrel. That will be worth say 5 pts. But your friend behind you takes out a skunk...a skunk might be worth 50 pts cause your friend is gonna have to live with the consequences of nailing a skunk for the remainder of the run or longer. Some larger slower animals are easier to hit, but the damage factor is higher, so points will be awarded accordingly.
Points will be taken away for pets. Cause that's just not cool. Unless it is of the small barking, ankle biter variety. They are just so annoying.
Points will also be deducted for buggies, etc...cause it's never a good idea to tick off the locals.
Gold Buicks are worth 1000 pts.
Bonus points if you BBQ the critter during the run.
Remember, it must be a confirmed hit to count and earn a sticker. To be confirmed, you must have at least one witness who will vouch for the untimely end of the varmint. Pictures will work also, but they're gonna be hard to get. Unless the animal is cooking.
Any Questions??

I can procrastinate with the best but knowing that certain organizers of this here event, like to know in advance who is showing up, I will be there at least for Saturday and most likey running in the AM Sunday. Too early to tell if I can arrange for Friday.
Unfortunately, I have no clue as to which route (and therefore group) to travel with as they all sound fun. So I guess I will have to procrastinate on that decision.

Holy crap! You checked the forum!!!! I'll add ya!!
BTW, Starved Rock some Sunday in Oct...go check out the thread! I think I have 7 or 8 right now. And I've redone the route since you've been on it last.

Sweet - I jumped like 20 spots in this weeks rankings!!!
Looks like I will be able to stay Saturday after all. I have decided to drive to my Sunday destination so no need to rush home to catch a flight.

FYI
Friday we finish the SOS and the Short Stack and have dinner
at Raven;s Glenn winery. It is a "Pay as you go" event.
Don;t drink too much because when we leave RGW (in the dark)
we will travel SR93 back to Zanesville (it's an hour of leisurely twisties to end the night)
Sat. night's dinner will be at the tumbleweed in Zanesville
Also...we think the CI will comp us the meeting room for the weekend too.
FRIDAY: SOS run in the morning ...starting in N-town (Newcomerstown).
All cars doing SOS will leave Zanesville at 7:45. Diana will lead the convoy
up SR93 (exit 157 on I-70...just 2 miles from the hotel (eastbound))
SR93 is a nice rolling warm up and will take exactly 1 hr to get to N-town.
Diana will take 93 all the way up to W. Laff and then 751 to 36..and 36 to the Wendy's.
Simkow - since you may not be staying over Thursday night, you can either meet leave with me in Zanesville at 7:45 am, or just meet us in Newcomerstown at the Wendy's by about 8:30 am. The SOS run will be from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Please post where you'd like to meet so I don't wait for ya. I can't quite remember which direction you are coming from.
We will split into two groups.....those that wish to go CW and those that go CCW. SOS will run till 1 pm...then we break for lunch.
At 2 pm..we will do the Short Stack (2-4 pm) and may be in 2 groups again..depending on if we need CW & CCW
at 4 we head back to Zanesville and dinner.
SATURDAY.....those that wish to do the Double Header can do so at their own pace. It is recommended they wait till 10 a.m. so as to left the WESTERS get out first)
OTHERWISE 9 a.m. 555 WEST will leave the parking lot in Zanesville.
Diana is right in one sense. To go back to the top is a waste of time.
So...those going CCW will go down 555 from the CI parking lot.(not conflicting with the DH people). The CW people will drive 15 miles to SR 83 and start down that.
People...NOTE: even though you are starting at a midpoint...we will be doing the whole 555WEST loop...right back up to the top at SR751.
so it is strongly recommended you have a co pilot that can take notes and record visuals.
PIT stops on 555 west
#1...the BP at mm157 at the intersection of I-70 and SR93
#2.....either the BP at the bottom of 555 (not recommended because CCW would have to cross 4 lanes of traffic twice) BUT...2 miles after leaving 555 you climb up SR339. There are 3 separate gas stations in the first 8 miles.....choose one of them
#3...the BP & 83 and I-70 has re-opened. USE IT
#4...remember next june we will start in canton..so the first pit will be at the rest area on I-77 at mm 85
For reference SR751 to Zanesville ...1 hr
down 555 1.5 hrs to next pit
UP 83 to I-70 1 hr.
82 to 751 end another hour
Saturday night we'll regroup for foods, and I'm sure we can con the CI into the small party room, or make our own party room for funs after the runs!
Any questions??? Please don't hesitate to ask!!!
She did a hell of a job on this post...kudos !!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, this event happens on the 2nd workday of the month so I am still pending. As long as our account closing schedule wouldn't be impacted, I am planning on taking Friday as vacation and I will meet you guys early Friday. As soon as our closing schedule gets posted, I will let you guys know.
Also, are any vendors going to be attending the event? Id really like to see SOLO there

Guess its just all in how you 'perceive' the event unfolded.
No negative comments were made by this person and i made a point of not mentioning names. I saw the video at the time and although it was taken from a distance I did not see brake lights. Now that doesn't mean there were not brake lights...i just don't remember seeing them in the video.
Also..I did NOT post the picture of the car in question...that was done by someone else.
It was not my intention to slander the person in the car in front....the discussion was merely about braking vs downshifting and i used it as an example. If i was incorrect in my perception then i apologize...was never intended to harm nor foul
