When you guys travel to an event such as T2TR, how do you pack the Sol for the trip? Looking for ideas, the wife likes to take everything if you know what I mean. What do you guys use? Lugage rack???

There are a variety of solutions, luggage rack, trailer, UPS. The best one is to take less stuff. You also have to be creative about packing. One suitcase won't fit. Small totes and garment bags will.

If she can move her seat up and still have some room (I'm only 5' 2"), there is a lot of storage space behind the seat! I usually bring cookies to the events I attend and I put all the cartons of cookies behind the seats. I probably get at least a case of cookies behind the seats. I put the largest cartons on the bottom. My make-up bag will also fit behind one of the seats with the cookies if need be.
Walgreens has small duffle bags that fit nicely in the trunk...2 for $10.00 I believe. I have one of those and then 2 other duffles that fit nicely in the trunk. And I still have some room for detailing supplies.
A couple I know that lives in my area travels everywhere in their Sky. 1 to 2 week trips to Florida, Vegas, etc. They roll their clothes and put them behind the seats.
If you want to drive with the top down, those are some tricks. You'll have even more room if you put the top up. But I try not to do that!! The trip to Denver this summer may be an exception.

Succinctly the Hampton will give us 40 rooms for Thursday and Saturday...but only 27 for the Friday night. That means one of two things.....either there is a bunch of doubling-up for Friday night...or some people will have to check out...use the Ghetto (Super 8) Friday night and then check back in again for Saturday. The 3rd alternative is some people may simply wish to use the Schoenbrunn Inn in New Philadelphia (15 miles up the road) for all 3 nights...or the Ghetto for all 3 nights...it's your choice !!!
The rooms are reserved at the Hampton only ( $71.99 a night + tax) and a block has been held at the Schoenbrunn also.
Reservation code is NEO Kappa Car Club at both locations
Obviously the first 27 reservations will get all 3 nights...the rest of you will have to decide about the Ghetto and/or the Schoenbrunn.
Don't tell me in February you did not know there was a reservation problem...we are telling you - up front- from day 1.
Here are the phone numbers
HAMPTON INN 740-498-9800
SUPER 8 740-498-4116
SCHOENBRUNN 330-339-4334
We have a Germin 260w GPS unit. Seeing that I am electronically challenged, I hope that it can be programmed on Thursday before the t2trIV, if it has to be programmed before the event please advise. Thank you, bern39
P.S. I mailed the check for Pat and I for the dinners on Friday and Saturday, today, 1-25-09

The greatest value in having the GPS is to be able to see what curves are coming up, and which direction they go, and you do not need the route programmed for that. Having the route programmed is good if you get separated from the group, and to let you know how much longer the run is, but it certainly is not required.

Bern...you'll be in the middle of a pack.
YOUR JOB...will be to maintain safe distance on both end while NEVER losing sight of the car in front of you (blind rises excepted) .
If you never lose sight of the one in front then you can't get lost can you?
Your big issue will be navigating the curves to the satisfaction of those cars around you.
Too much brake and the car in front of you distances itself....while the cars behind also brake and start to stack up.
Not enough brake and you run up on the one in front...then you brake and cause the same stack up.
It's tricky and not nearly as difficult as I make it sound here.
Nobody is hell bent for leather....so whether you are midlling or cruiser
you will have fun !
Autocross schedule is out... I have my second event of the year on Sunday May 3rd in South Bend.
I have to figure out logistics as to what I want to do... but I'm not willing to haul my trailer down there and leave at the hotel while we are all gone (and I'm certainly not taking it on T2TR!).
Most likely I will be out for this event now as any portion of the event means I'd have to be back on the west side of Michigan by Saturday night and in shape enough to turn around and drive 100 miles and compete on Sunday morning.
I still have my hotel reservations, and plan on keeping them until a true final decision is determined though. But I won't be paying ahead of time for anything, that's for certain now.

Might one ask if this will also be a priority in 2010?
