Was just up in TC in early August..... If this is an annual event I will look forward to it next year -- sorry no can do this year...:thumb:

Glad to see a Sky join the thread.. maybe the post over on Skyroadster.com is working!

yes, this is the second year for this. Problem is peak color is hard to predict, and it falls during the end of my autox season... but it's been the first weekend in October both times so far.

It also falls around the WI Dells trip, and the fall run for the NEO's as well. I'm hoping over time we can keep the MKC folks in Michigan!!

I was asked via PM a question I thought best to respond back to the group here.

As for contact information for each on the ride, usually for rides we use the little GRMS radios to keep in touch. The group is small enough and we aren't going through towns to the point that we should loose each other. The radios help with that, in case of a bathroom break, or food suggestions, general chit-chat, etc.

I have 2 radios, and will be purchasing two more, so I will bring all 4 of mine. If anyone has extras that would help too.

Count us in! We will drive up on Friday from Illinois and return on Sunday, so we could start early on Saturday. We were last in that area for our honeymoon, 26 years ago.

Good idea. I have a radio that I will bring along.

There is a small group of Traverse City area people that do a couple of runs a year through the local Saturn dealer where I bought my Sky in TC. I sent a link of this thread to the person that organizes those runs to see if anyone there was anyone interested in going on this one. Maybe we'll get a few new recruits for the MKC.

OOOOOOHhhhhhhh! This sounds fun! I'd love to see pics! Maybe I can plan it next year, I think the 12 hours to get there would be a bit far and I just don't think I can get there this year. Please share pics when you get back. Have a great time!

I'm sure there will be plenty of pictures.. I'm just hoping that with this cooler weather the trees catch up and the color up there will be FANTASTIC.

I've updated the list, if anyone is missing.. well, let me know.

Many people are saying they have places to stay, so at this point I'm not going to try to book a group rate. We need 10+ rooms to do that from the hotels I've contacted thus far.

Once I have an idea on when me and my girlfriend will be up there on Friday, I'll post up and those interested in making contact that Friday certainly can.

Please put me on your list to attend. Haven't received the new GXP yet but dealer says next week so should be able to make TofT. I will probably caravan up with JLW and my buddy with while Solstice says they will be coming also, if we attend! Cya there!

I've updated the list, and added an optional route to the listing as well.

It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to stick around Saturday after the drive. My girlfriend (who will be there with me) is running a half marathon that Sunday (which both of us forgot about when I set this weekend for the event) in the Detroit area.. so we will be taking off.

The current route times out via the map at around 7 1/2 hours.. but by mileage is 239. I'm thinking the route will actually be done in about 5 hours (50 MPH average), plus a stop for a lunch, and time at the inn as well.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Again, don't forget to book a hotel, there isn't enough folks needing a place to get a block of rooms or discount unfortunately.

Rich,

Where can I find the updated list and optional route?

Everything is being updated in the very first post. I just keep editing it and trying to note in here what's changed. Otherwise you get updates spread across multiple pages and it's harder to follow IMO.

I have a link to both routes.. just depends on what people feel like doing that day. The "optional" route is just a shorter route and avoids Mackinaw City. I see that taking up a bunch of time in the day if people want to stop there.

Thought is (just my idea, we can all talk about it) after we get to the inn after the Tunnel of Trees we can talk about what route people want to take on the way back. If the group splits into two, that's fine... everyone should have a map and an idea on how to get back. My girlfriend and I will not be taking the trip to Mackinaw City though, because we need to get back to Detroit that Saturday... so lots of driving that day!
