It ain't winter yet!

The weather was so nice yesterday (Nov 14) that Nancy and I decided at the last minute to take a ride to the Irish Hills area and beyond.

We took I-94 to 127 to US 12. We put the top down and proceeded to a nice coffee shop we discovered in Jonesville. After spending an hour or so there, availing ourselves of refreshments and their wi-fi, we went on to Allen, the "Antique Capitol" of Michigan. While in Allen, we got some 'fresh squeezed off the tree' (non-Pasteurized) cider to bring home.

We then continued westward on US 12 to Bronson, a small town a dozen or so miles west of Coldwater to a steak house we hadn't been to for about 30 years (yes, it was still there and about 4 times bigger than it was then). After a great dinner, we took the expressways back to Farmington.

Top down for the first half of the trip...in mid-November...in Michigan!

Who'd a thunk it?

Yes yesterday was a great November day in Missouri also.Hubby and I took the FETISH out for a drive. We didn't take the top down though due to the fact we're both recovering from colds.

Today Missouri weather is another story. Raining, cold, dark and dreary. Glad we enjoyed yesterday's gift from GOD.

Way to go Radio Doc. Wish I hadn't put mine away so I could have enjoyed the few nice days we have had lately. Heck after having no summer these nice days were owed to us! Save some of those nice tours for next summer and maybe you could get us together for a cruise. I will be working on mine for mid April!! Lets hope for a fast winter!!

I wish I didn't put mine away either. Met with a few Sols / Skys Friday at Damons and wished mine was there also. The weather was warm enough to drive with the top down (with heater on) that night. Saturday was even better.

Last year I waited to put it away and the ground got soft from all the rain. I had to wait until it became frozen enough so I could drive on it.

This is what it looks like now:

Winter? What's that? We get our best cruising weather this time of year in the panhandle. 70 during the day and 50 at nite. Sunny skies all day and star filled nites. Sugar sand beaches and ittsy bittsy bikinis. God i love Florida. Perfect envoirment for kappas. Born and raised in northern Ohio, ran away years ago. Do miss the fall colors though.

Drove in to work this morning with the top down. These cars do need a vent directed at the shifter though- my right hand was the only thing cold

They still have lovebugs?

I was in Orlando for a few weeks in 1969 for a company school and the lovebugs back then seemed as close to a Biblical plague as you could get. I found out very quickly why every gas station made available garden hoses, windshield squeegees and sold netting for your front grille. As I recall, you could only go maybe 15 miles before you had to stop to scrape you windshield.

I hope its gotten better since then.

P.S.

From Wikipedia:

Its reputation as a public nuisance is due not to any bite or sting (it is incapable of either), but to its slightly acidic body chemistry.[1] Because airborne lovebugs can exist in enormous numbers near highways, they die en masse on automobile windshields, hoods, and radiator grills when the vehicles travel at high speeds. If left for more than an hour or two, the remains become dried and extremely difficult to remove. In the past, the acidity of the dead adult body, especially the female's egg masses, often resulted in pits and etches in automotive paint and chrome if not quickly removed.[3] However, advances in automotive paints and protective coatings have reduced this threat significantly. Now the greatest concern is excessive clogging of vehicle radiator air passages with the bodies of the adults, with the reduction of the cooling effect on engines, and the obstruction of windshields when the remains of the adults and egg masses are smeared on the glass.

Had mine out for a spin around Charlevoix on Sat. Weather was just too darn nice!

I parked it last month thinking that was it, but when I went up this past weekend to do the final winterizing to it, I just couldn't resist taking a spin

Now it is parked in the back of the pole barn covered and sleeping till spring

Mine is in my work parking lot today... I had an autocross this past weekend!

It's the latest I've had mine out, but after this weekend I think she'll go to sleep.

Very few lovebuge in this area. Drove from Pensacola to Lake Charles in August, got hit by a dozen tops. My baby is a daily driver, she gets a bath once every two weeks. Sometimes she doesn't even need it. Never drive her in the rain, don't get much here.
