Baker's in Milford June 22nd

I know this discussion has been started on the car show thread but figured we need to get more attention. It looks like the 22nd is a go for a greet and meet at the Baker's cruise in Milford. Apparently Mrs Sky is arranging an area for us to park together. I went to Baker's today and there were a couple Kappa's and also a Fiero Club meet there today. Also there displaying some new Cadillacs was a dealer (LaFontain) and discussed with him possibility of bringing some new Solstices on the 22nd. They are receptive to any kind of publicity and would even do events at their new dealership! I went by their brand new dealership on the way home and they had no less then 20 new Solstices. Even had a few of the SCCC editions with the 2.4 and hood stripes.
Sounds like we can make the day after the Summer Solstice a big event at Baker's. Last year there were about 30 Kappa's at Baker's. Let's see if we can do even better this year.
Baker's is also a great place to eat and has good oldies music. See Ya on the 22nd.

Gunny: Baker's is a fairly nice restaurant in Milford MI. Milford is where the GM proving grounds are located. Every Sunday they have a car cruise (free) and there are lots of classics and street rods. It is open to anything and they will let us section off a portion of their parking lot for Kappa's. Mrs Sky on the sky forum apparently lives close or knows someone and has arranged for a designated parking area. Last year it was the first week of their cruises and we had about 30 Kappa show up. I didn't take my Solstice yesterday but V8 SKY was there and there was a yellow GXP. It is a nice event with some shade but can be hot on the pavement. They play oldies music and have raffles and just have a nice day. I will have to get back to you on exact time but think 1pm until maybe 6. Should be a nice drive for you from Mason. Baker's is located at 2025 S. Milford Road.
See everyone there!

Bakers is north off exit 155 on I-96 east of Brighton.

If anybody is interested......meet at the Park & Ride lot just north of I-94 exit 141 Jackson, Michigan at 10:30 on Sunday June 22nd and we will cruise twisty roads for about 2 hours and Hell will be one of the places we go through. This will be like a good portion of the run through Hell in September. We will then end up at Bakers around 12:30-1:00 PM.

Post here or PM me if any questions.

darn it, we'll have to miss this one as we are leaving for Tenn that day. Hubby said if we're going all the way for the Tail of the Dragon, then we are going to make a week of it!

What about a Solstice car show!!! I was so impressed with the new LaFontaine dealership in Highland that my fellow Solstice freind and I went back there tonight. As I said before they had 20+ Solstices on the lot and even had three of the new SSB Champion editions. This dealership is like none I have seen before with a salon, gift shop and Star Bucks within the dealership. Anyway they really want to get involved and are receptive to sponsoring a car show at their location. They would supply the BBQ and I'm thinking a car show wiith awards to car with Most Mods, Most miles, least miles, Oldest, and maybe a Dealers Choice(any other ideas?). They also said they would have Solstice items For Sale and displays of vehicles. What do you all think of this and would you attend. I don't live near this dealership but it is located on M59 about 10 miles East of US23. West of Pontiac area, so would be fairly located from Detroit area and Flint and Lansing areas. This dealership sponsors the Baker's weekly cruise and will make the 22nd a Solstice night to correspond with our Kappa get together. They will bring a few new Solstices for a display ( New SSB Champion edition and a GXP). I would be willing to coordinate the car show event with them but would like to know your interest before I commit the time. Sounds like fun to me. What's your Thoughts???

Count us in for the ride over from Jackson . What time are you planning on leaving Mason to head down? Crystal is probably going to come with so I'll need to drop off michael in Leslie and get back to the house but will probably just head down with you from the get go.

I'm a bit confused. THey would come to Bakers or we would at some point move to the dealership? Sounds cool either way. I'd be up for it.

Sorry for confusion! This would be two different events. They are definately coming to Baker's on the 22nd. They would also be willing to sponsor Solstice car show at their location at a date to be determined.

This sounds like a gread idea! I'm in.

Was wondering who those belonged to. I saw all there Sols parked in a lot off of Milford Rd before the dealership was finished. Very nice.

It sounds like we may have some interest in a car show using the LaFontaine dealership. I will take the lead and see if we can make this happen. I'm thinking a Saturday in early August might be good dates but will see what their ideas are. Anyone with suggestions on what judging for the cars would be appreciated. I was thinking of adding to the list I made , Front valance curb art judging! I'm thinking someone from the dealership should be the judges? What else would everyone like to see?? I will know more on the 22nd at the Baker's event and talk with everyone there for ideas.
