I hope you plan to join us (Detroit Roadsters) at the Dream Cruise Saturday August 15th: I know everyone would like to see the Coupe. we will be at Core Partners, 26622 Woodward Avenue near the corner of 4th and Woodward Ave. This is just south of 11Mile and Woodward.
We expect to have about 10 parking spots on the grass between the sidewalk and Woodward Ave. like we had last year. There will be additional parking spots in a parking area just off the sidewalk. All spots will be $25, and there will be room for everyone to set up a chair right on Woodward avenue.

Mike... I'm considering asking that you request a Detroit Roadsters section of the forum to be created, as this section is for the Michigan Kappa Club. While we serve (mainly) the same interest, our means in going about that are greatly different.
I by no means am saying that you or the other Detroit Roadster members are not welcome, that's quite the opposite of what I want to show...
I know I posted this publicly instead of a PM, but if other MKC members greatly disagree then I want them to be able to voice their concerns, and sending a message via PM would not allow for that.
Recently a few Detroit Roadster events have been posted and started inside the MKC subforum. For the same reason one competing vendor does not post in another vendors sub-forum, I would think out of respect one club would not do the same to another club.
Let me say this to be clear: EVERYONE is welcome to a MKC event, regardless if you are a member of MKC (which, BTW, is free), not a member of MKC, or a member of another club. I in no way want to exclude or indicate that I want to exclude anyone. However, I feel that it is beneficial for a club to use the resources of the forum for their intended use, and expect others to do the same out of respect.
I can move threads from this sub-forum if it is needed, but did not want to do so without discussion. Maybe we should start a thread to discuss this?
I guess I don't see the problem here. Detroit Roadsters is not a competing club. It just gives all of us more options. Since everyone is welcome, I would think that members would want to know about additional opportunities for rides, meets, etc.
I'm not sure how everyone else feels, but that's my opinion.

Well... that is the reason I want to have the discussion. Here's the way I see things, and knowing that just because I see them that way doesn't mean that it's right, I think an open discussion is warranted.
1) Detroit Roadsters is a competing club
Why do I say that... they are a supporting vendor of the forum. Detroit Roadsters is a GM Roadster club, meaning they collect dues from their members. As a supporting vendor, there are rules they are to follow.
2) Any club is allowed to have a sub-forum on this board, just like NEO and MKC have currently.
I would think that if Detroit Roadsters wanted a presence on the board, being that they are part of a supporting vendor, they would have their own sub-forum within the Great Lakes section.
There are other things as well.. but not sure I want to drag them into this discussion as it might seem like mud slinging and that's not the point. Let us see what the MKC members and lurkers want, and we can go from there.
Rich, i agree with steve, we all ride with each other and want to do so , I don't care what club puts on the ride just want to enjoy the ride asnd it is nice not to have to go on each site to see what ride is going on anyway. Plus so are members on both sites . If we had rides avalible from both clubs every weekend and then where competeing for each ride that would be different, but that is not the case. I say the more cars on the ride the better since not everybody can do all the rides . what do you all think?

rlhammon,
I'm surprised, I thought we had talked about this at one if not more than one event.
a) I am a Kappa club member.
b) Detroit Roadster promotes Kappa Club events on our site, and encourage readers to participate. (I've been watching for a posting for the weekday Woodward Cruise Drive - I had a blast, and I have people asking already when it will be this year)
c) There is no requirement for anyone, Kappa, Detroit Roadster or member of neither to pay for an event, unless there is an expense incurred. e.g. the Woodward Cruise, I pay $25 a piece for a for a block of parking spots for all day on that Saturday.
If Kappas decide this is inappropriate use of this site, then remove my listings, and my Kappa membership.
I felt that the variety of events (and as far as I am aware we have never posted an event that conflicts datewise with a Kappa Event) was a benefit to members of both organizations.
I can't imagine where we compete. I encourage Detroit Roadster Members to join Kappa, and attend Kappa events. I can understand if someone doesn't want to pay for membership in a club (Detroit Roadsters). If any Solstice, Skye, or Opal owner wants to attend our events they are welcome. I think both groups benefit by greater attndance and networking.
If the consensus is our posting events on each other's sites is hurting Kappa, delete the listings, and my memberhip, and I wont participate in the future.
Welcome Detroit Roadsters, to the Michigan Kappa Club subforum
All,
Seeing no further discussion, I see no reason to raise a fuss. I was simply doing my duties as a moderator, and seeking input regarding the rules of the forum and it's usage. So... as the title of this posts states:
Welcome Detroit Roadsters, to the Michigan Kappa Club subforum.
I will address Mike's comments, only because I haven't previously:

The only time we have met was at Woodward Dream Cruise last year, where you pushed repeatedly for me to join Detroit Roadsters and said there was no reason to have the Michigan Kappa Club as we didn't even have a website (mind you GM Roadsters purchased the domain name of Michigan Kappa Club [dot] com - so we couldn't use that as our website).
Actually you are not on the Michigan Kappa Club website. I believe you previously joined the Google Groups that we had though. Please feel free to sign up on the website and I will approve your membership once I see it. I sent an invite to the new site to all of those on the Google Group, so you should have had that invite, plus the link is in my signature. Please understand I am traveling frequently during June and might not be able to approve it immediately, but it will be approved.

The only promotion of our events I've seen (and I just checked your website again prior to posting this response) was from Toyman's run last year. Outside of that post on Aug. 15th, 2008, there is nothing apparent regarding the MKC events. In fact, there is nothing new on the Detroit Roadsters website since then except a post from Martin concerning NASSM 2009.
As for the weekday Solstice Dream Cruise, it is on the event calendar on our website as Thursday Aug. 13th. from 6 PM - 10 PM.

That's good to know... but there is a membership fee to join Detroit Roadsters.

I agree the more events the better, it gives options to people on weekends, weekdays, and types of events. No doubt it's better. The question never was a concern about MKC, as I don't speak for the members. The question was regarding the rules of Solstice Forum with respect to Sponsors / Vendors. Please don't confuse me asking the question as direction from MKC at all, I asked the question as a moderator of this subforum. I know it's hard to separate the two, but this was me doing my job as a moderator.
Again, welcome Detroit Roadsters to the Michigan Kappa Club subforum!
I saw this a little late but my feeling is to welcome the roadsters. With this clown we have as president of the United States, if car enthusiasts don't start getting together and uniting as a cohesive unit we may not have any gasoline to fuel our passions in the future. I notice some of the English car club sites I visit have dual postings and links to other badges.
