We are at 45 members strong including the last member (a resident of Illinois) approved this morning.
Just a reminder, there are no e-mails, no spamming, and the like from the website. The only thing we ask for is your forum name so that people know who you are. If you are interested in participating in the events put on by members of MKC please sign up on the website.
We host photos, videos, and all the event details to make hosting and participating in events easy for all.
The group now has it's own website, created on the Ning.com service. This allows us a lot of functionality similar in nature to a Facebook / MySpace site. Each individual will have a Ning.com account, but the site is open only to approved members.
The greatest thing about Ning.com is it's free... but second to that is we can interact, post events, pictures, videos, etc. on there without things getting lost. We also have control over the look, layout, and functionality of the site unlike a Facebook / MySpace group.
So... follow this link (you'll have to piece it back together, sorry... bots will see the link and create spam on the site, so I have to post it this way)
Please post a reply if you have signed up, and give me a heads up as to who you are... I have a few people with requests to join, but I'm not certain who they are and I would like to prevent any spammers from getting in. Sorry if I just don't remember who you are, or don't recognize the name / e-mail, but if you can give me a heads up... I'll make sure you get approved.
Thanks, and start populating the site with your MKC related activities, stories, pictures, etc. I've started a few things on there so you can see how the site works once you log in.[/quote]
You will not be able to access the site until you register on Ning. Go to the webaddress, and click on the Sign Up link as in the picture below. That's all that's needed. Once you are signed up, I'll get a notification and I'll approve you giving you full access to the site.
Thanks for those of you who picked up the Michigan Kappa Club business cards at the LaFontaine meet recently. Let me know how it's going in getting them distributed. Remember, handing them out at your dealership is a great idea... the service group can pass them out as others come back for visits (at least my local shop is doing this).
Let me know if you need more / want more. The hope is to get these out to various MKC events so all of those willing can get some in their hands. If we need to get more printed, we certainly can do that.

rlhammon - jus' to let you know... I changed your signature to make the url for michigankappaclub.ning.com an active link, so it now opens to the site directly. I hope you don't mind...

Thanks, it's something I have forgotten to do. Originally I had it as before since I couldn't force approval for membership and I didn't want spam bots signing up on the site. However now I have complete control of who becomes a member, and if I'm spoofed, I can delete the account as well... so, your change is actually a good one, and one I have forgotten to fix, so Thank You!
The site now has a functioning chat room. By rules of this forum we are not allowed to have a forum of our own (I can do that on the site though for future reference), however we can and now DO have a chat room.
If you use Facebook at all, you'll be familiar with the chat bar at the bottom on every page once you are on the site. You can use that bar, or the Chat tab along the top to talk to your fellow club members in real time.
I've also changed the photos from a slideshow to a static display on the main page to speed up loading. You can view slideshows via the Photo's tab still, nothing has changed there.
Let me know if there are other things you'd like to see, or changes that should (or shouldn't have) be done.
The website now has a member map (similar to that on this forum) showing the location (city level only) of members. Now you can get in touch with local members for events with ease!
We recently had a new member join who was recruited by one of you! I was given a story about them being stopped by a member and given our flyer (which I assume to me the business card) which turned them on to the club. Great job! I'm hoping to have more cards out at the next events for others to pick up and distribute. Don't forget, ask your dealership if they are willing to hand them out as vehicles are brought back in for service.
Please remember to use a valid e-mail address and answer the questions upon signup. It's one of the few ways I use to validate someone as a real person.
If you are worried about spam, I understand. That's exactly why I approve every member, and verify who they are prior to allowing access. To date, I have received ZERO spam messages from the site or any members on the site.
Sorry about posting this (again), but I had three new members today and I could only accept two of them as the third is using an anti-spam e-mail address and it didn't verify as valid.
We stand at 77 members as of today, way to go! Keep handing out those business cards, and if you don't have any... post on the forum and we'll get you some more to hand out!
Also, the website now has a fully functioning Member Map. I've had one on there I've been working with for a few weeks, but I've finally got something that works going now. If you would like to add yourself to the Member Map (default is you are not added), please log onto the MKC website, select the "Member Map" tab, and sign up!
It's a handy feature to allow you to find local owners to share information with, share a ride with, and just make friends who have common interests.
