MKC - Caravan to T2TR 2008

Who would like to join us on the caravan to Ohio to go to the Midwest's #1 twisties and the #1 get-together in the area??

When: Friday May 2, 2008 - I'm leaving at 10:00 AM
Where: Here's the two exits off of 23 I think would be good for most. Let me know where you'd like to meet

1. US-23 Exit 58 Lee Road Brighton, MI - Meeting here at 10:30 AM
2. US-23 Exit 34 W Michigan Avenue Just south of Ann Arbor, MI (This is probably where most will want to meet) - Meeting here at 11:00 AM

We also need to determine a time. I believe it's about a 3 hour drive from Brighton. They have a run going on friday also that will be starting at noon. Do we want to try to make it or should we just plan on being there for dinner time?? We are going to try to accommodate as many people in this caravan as possible.

Where: To be determined (please give imput) We have members going from Lansing, Flint, Grand Rapids, and Detroit. I'm a gps guy so I just plug it in and go. I need a good central location to meet at. I'm kind of thinking brighton might be good for all of us, but not sure.

Obviously, I am going... If we can caravan, so much the better.... i was planning on doing the Sat event and leaving Friday (two days works for animal management.. longer is "pet hotel" time).

The hotel of choices have been laid out. The primary already seems to be booked and the Super 8 is the only one i can get online. We may want to look for another in striking range and get a block rate.. Then again, I can do Super 8 if needed..

Forgot.. rally point... The vectors are a bit out of alignment. If we are all planning to use the ohio turnpike, the central point for meeting would be near 80/280 exit in Ohio. I lived near there a few decs back and assume it is still there. Let's have other folks speak up,

I'm going to be coming from the Kalamazoo area so I'd prefer not to have to go north to meet up with the crew. Anywhere from I-94 on down would be fine for me. I don't care if I make it to the Friday run or not so I am agreeable with whatever the majority wants.

So the Hampton is booked up huh? DARN IT!

Did you guys call the Hampton or just check online? Cause there is a block of rooms there and at the Super 8 I believe. But you have to call them and ask for the NEO rate. (or something like NEO Car Club...whatever it is...it's posted!)

Have fun doing the caravan!!!!!

I'm waiting on my AutoX schedules to be posted... but I'd love to attend.

I wouldn't worry too much about meeting points now. Get people geared to go, and setup points a few weeks before the event. You might end up having groups from GR, KZoo, and Detroit and each leaves on their own... or you might end up getting everyone together, too soon to determine now (I think).

I'd do Saturday. I'm already taking too many days off to drive out to Vegas for Nationals...

I called, and they said they still have rooms available. This was 3 days ago. I have mine booked!!

RLHammon, this is one run you shouldn't miss. It's way too much fun!!

I think I'm going to depart around noon to get there around four. I will end up posting my path, and cities I go through. I will stop anywhere along the way to expand the caravan. I will get that up today hopefully. And then we can go from there. I know Flipper (Philip) will probably follow me down, and most likely Marie. From there anyone is welcome to join in also, even down in Ohio.

Stops along the way

All right, I'll be starting in Fenton, Mi but these are the two cities that I think will be pretty easy to meet in. Especially the second one. I believe most people coming from the west or easy can meet there. So if you'd like to meet us there please let me know and we'll figure out a time. How does noon sound on friday??
  1. US-23 Exit 58 Lee Road Brighton, MI
  2. US-23 Exit 34 W Michigan Avenue Just south of Ann Arbor, MI (This is probably where most will want to meet)

Like I said... it will depend on AutoX schedule. I'm running a full season this year, and want to run for points and trophy in my region.

This is the first weekend back from Las Vegas nationals as well.. so I'm driving back from Las Vegas Sunday - Monday / Tuesday. Then off to this...my g/f is going to kill me, but I can drop her in Detroit with her friends and go solo on this I think.

I'll keep ya posted once I know my track schedule.

**EDIT**

Wow.. I just mapped out the route based on the NEO thread (info. from first post). I don't mean to imply this is an official map or anything like that.. but looks like fun:

Woah...It looks like fun??? It doesn't look like fun...

It's incredibly, unbelievably, insanely, crazy, time of your life, fun!!!!
That map is nice, but it doesn't show you the hills. Some nice blind rises and tight rising curves!!! It's a roller coaster ride for a car! No joke!!

Working out some of the Illinois caravan details today over on the official thread. I'll have to chat with the Chicago group about our departure time. Highly recommend the radios when you're in the caravan. We had fun chatting it up on the way there and back in November.

Way to put this together Scuba! You will not regret it!!!

That's what the handy "Terrain" button is for on the upper right of the map. Zoom in and you can see the lay of the land and get an appreciation for the ride. Heck, for that matter use the Satellite function over in the top right as well. Both give you a great idea of the land and what's is like.

BTW.. I love Google Maps.

Oh the terrain and satellite images are OK, but they still don't do the thing justice! Crundell needs to link his video back up!!!

It's a sick ride...literally!!!
