GM 2.4 Turbo Rumors

There is a thread over in the Sky forum talking about the possibility of a GM Turbo upgrade for the 2.4 model, and I searched here but could not find anything. I did read about plenty of rumors, so the March 07 announcement could be something else. Does anyone here know any more? Here is the SKY thread: http://www.skyroadster.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=11116

Is it a good business decision to come out with a GM certified part that makes a base roadster perform better than a turbo model? It seems like if GM was going to come out with performance parts, they should focus on their performance vehicles, which is what this thread suggests: Unable to disclose anything.... but. Some beautiful mods coming pretty soon.

Not realy since they provide a sport suspension for the NA Solstice that is as good as the FE3 that comes with the ZOK and GXP.

Well let's put it this way...this will only be done by those with the base solstice. Plus...with the 2.4 vs. the 2.0 turbocharged you may have more interest in that. Plus it won't take away the GXP because look at all of the people that could have put a turbo on their car rather than trading up for the GXP. It's two different markets really. Plus the cobalt isn't a "perf car" and they have made many perf parts for them. So...it'd be possible but doubtful.

I don't know how much GM will charge for the performance turbo kit and/or when it is going to be available, but the best part is that you don't have to wait for it. Very soon Werks is going to have their turbo kit for the 2.4 L out to the public, and what I have seen so far has impressed me. More to come.

Salstice,

No details thay I can share right now, but very soon (very soon) we'll (Dave and I) be in a postition to share pictures and info with the forum.
What I can tell you in a very generic way, is that the components they are using (both fabricated and purchased) are top quality and will be very satisfying. I would recommend to anyone that's in the market for purchasing a turbo for their 2.4L to wait a bit for this package (believe me it's just around the corner).

GM offers a bolt on supercharger for the pontiac vibe.

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results...es=1&pkgid=146

I've been hoping for them to do the same for us. Seems like they'd sell a hell of a lot more than they did for the vibe.

I unfortunately don't think we're ever going to see an upgrade kit for the base car of this type. Especially with the GXP already existing. There's been talk of GM upgrades for the GXP, some one might be confusing those with a base car kit.

Brentil:
I would not be so sure of your statement concerning the GXP, specially if the Supercharger offers 225 BHP or there about, remember they have produce a lot more NA Solstice than GXP's, if I were GMPP it would be already making announcements of this Upgrade to the NA cars.

Oh pretty please GM make this be true!!! If so I hope not too expensive. This would be the way I would go. A turbo from GM would mean you don't lose your warranty in the process right? Doh this would be sooooo cool!
