   "new" turbo kit

I ended up selling my hahn turbo kit to a local friend. just had to change a few things to make to make it work on his car. But I dont like the way that kit was made. Not trying to take a bite out of Hahn, because he knows his stuff. But that kit looked a bit micky mouse. my 2cents

SO.....
the NEW turbo kit should be coming out near mid feb. It is going to be all top of the line parts and a mid level price. I am using a few thing different for my personal prefs. But this company is using all "tier" I dont know how to spell it. LOL.

But this kit is going to come with a front mount, T clamps, new cat, 60pound injectors, and a GT28 ball bearing turbo, external 38mm wastegate, bov. and that is all I can think of right now.

As for pricing, I am not sure. But I think it is going to be the same as the Hahn kit stage 2. Or just over it by like $500CDN, but it is going to make very very GOOD power, It is going to be a fully tuned kit. And make my car one mean machine.

I will have alot more details by the end of next week. "I hope"

Good deal compression. Glad to see another entry into turboland. Hope your kit builder treats you well! Does he already have a manifold or is he going to fabricate or cast one from scratch? When is your car going in? How long is he going to have it? Is he going to flash the ECM - or have it done?

yeah it is a pretty good deal. He is going to make it from scatch. also all the piping is going to be coming from vibrant performance, they are also selling me a cat and intercooler, the end tanks are going to be custom made. Also I choose to go with a few turbo smart products. and if I have enough money I am going to buy a wideban a/f

And yes it is going to be tuned. They have a in house dyno, tuning program is going to be HPI ? they said it is going to take 15-20 pulls to tune this thing. This comany is all over the cobalt forums. So I think they know a thing or 2 about a eco motor.

The car is going into the shop next week we hope. Just waiting for the CNC to make it to the shop, and I dont know which turbo I want to go with
gt2860R or gt2860rs duel ball bearing or gt2874r

I think the turbo they are going to use with there kits is a gt2871R. I just dont have the time to wait for that ONE turbo to come in.

The things that are different are more power add ons. They are still all bolt on or weld on parts. Like bigger injectors, new wastegate. small things that all add up to make the kit cost a bit more, I would only say stick with a stage 2 for now, because more power means more motor problems. Unless you build your motor up, and make it so you can handle more boost.

I am not the best person to talk turbo with, you need to ask Carl more then me.

Compression has it right. Stage II & III are bolt on with no internals required. You can do stage II without changing the clutch but stage III needs a new clutch to handle the power.

The price bump from II to III @ Hahn is about $800 and the clutch without flywheel is about $525. Having the clutch installed cost around $250.

By the time you get the stage III turbo kit, high flow cat, cat back exhaust & clutch - you are in the neighborhood of $6,300. Add a werks radiator and you go to $6,800. Moving the heat out of the engine bay via Norm's vented fenders will add another $550.

Lets just round it up to $7,000 total! Don't forget that a tire upgrade will be needed. 7k will get you to 340 hp - properly!

Stage IV with internals is a whole nuther deal and will run the price up 2k - 3k more. Almost at a point where you may want to consider an Ls1.

Isn't tuning great?

WOW I was right ? hmm that is a first.
I also bought a few more goodies for my kit. I bought a autometer boost gauge that the shop is going to be hooking up, and I am also waiting on a wideband A/F gauge. I heard that gauge was really good for tuning the car. And it will help make sure my motor doesnt got POP. I cant wait to get my car back now. I dont care if it takes 4weeks. But they said 2weeks in and out fully tuned and street ready, also show ready.

I hope all things turn out good, and if they do. I am sure they would be more then happy to become a supporting vendor on this forum.

Well......... Hahn didn't offer a stage I. I'm thinking it's because a turbo kit takes all the basic ingredients and there's not much you can do to produce a lower power product that could still be upgradeable. Just my guess.

The stage power progression is as follows:

stock = 177
stage II = 280
stage III = 340
stage IV = 410

Actually Carl, Hahn could have offered a Stage I, 5psi no I/C version making 225 to 235 BHP, but knowing that the GXP and power sells, he went with the Stage II instaed IMHO.

If they are using a GT28rs or even a GT2871R then they are internal wastegates and there is no need for a 38mm wastegate. Good luck!
