Problem - too much power! All that boost pushed the guts out of the CAT.

This - in turn caused the air flow to cease, which caused the super to groan, cuz it couldn't push air, and the belt to squeal cuz the super was stalling slightly. All good again - back to stock CAT until a replacement arrives.

Thanks again for the help Randy.

Who made the CAT you were using? I'll be sure not to get one. It looks as if it was the one DDM carries according to your sig...??? i hope they'll have a solution for that so the guts of the CAT dont continue to get blown out.

I hate to say it, but it was one of our cats that failed. We had a company making these high flow's for us and have been disappointed with a couple of these high flows we have gotten, so we have already switched to another supplier of these (by the way it is a different supplier than the high flow cats in our headers for those wondering)

Needless to say we will get King-oka one of the new ones sent out and make sure we take care of him.

Thanks,
Dave

LOL - got to love the phone service you get from DDM. I know why they are able to answer their phone day and night, but I'm sworn to secrecy.

Oka - time for a high flow cat....

The sc is apparently pretty tough on the cats if you have the stock manifold or shorty header. I went through two hi-flow cats from another vendor with my original setup.

Glad they were able to help you identify the problem so quickly King. Hope the new ones hold up better for you

The Stock cat are fine. it was only a particular vendors high-flow. It really has nothing to do with the S/C's. it just a deffective batch of Cats

Stock CAT is OK but won't pass enough air for full power. My experience is that a high flow CAT is good for 5 to 10HP and much smoother accels.

Unfortunately mine went from hi-flow to no flow.

You know...for five to ten HP I think I'll stick with the OEM cat. No leaks,

nice mellow sound with my Magnaflow duals, and a very long warranty on

any part related to emissions. Anyway, that extra power is probably

somewhere on my tach that I don't often visit.

Ya - well I haven't coughed up any money for an aftermarket exhaust yet, so I kinda need the hi-flow CAT for performance. I guess I could have gone your route, but I believe my new CAT is already in the works.

Go all the way, long tube header (I have a tri-y), high flow cat (you can read a newspaper through mine), and a solo dual exhaust of your choice. DDM does make an entire exhaust system from the head to the tip as well.

Yes, they do!

I added a Moroso spiral flow race muffler in-line to my All-DDM long-tube-header/hi-flow-cat/2.5"Magnaflow system to take a bit of raspiness out. It's quite nice.
