I'm pretty positive I have a boost leak because of a crushed pipe I found. Don't know how it happened, but it is a isolated incidence with the DDM kit. Somehow my fault I'm sure. But who cares about that? I get new piping from stage II. My question is though, what would my wideband read if I had a boost leak?? Thanks

Would it make it look extremely lean??

I would think it would be the opposite. All the air that your maf is seeing is not making it into the motor because of the leak, so I would think you would be rich. Again, just a somewhat educated guess on my part .

hahahaha i bet dave and randy LOVVVVVVVEEEE you ...lol..isolated event....
..wellllll that goes without saying.........if it wasn't crushed on arrival .........anyway

ANY PRODUCT that stands up to your.... " normal wear and tear "... should get the

((((((( mr torture test --> stamp of APPROVAL )))))....... as in built scOObie tuff !!........

seriously of course a leak or crushed pipe could affect your wb readings..
....depends what and where the crushed part or leak is...........my guess is could go rich or lean depending on specifics........ you could be more cavalier if it were reading rich ...lol...(((((MAYBE ))))

have yuh had it on a rack since " the ditch and donuts ".....first off...just because you see one thing doesn't mean thats the only thing.....

.... my 1st guess would have been a rich reading ..but you are seeing lean ......rut row

... if the maf reading was squed.... or is your map squed....both ?? leak/ crush ?? the tune would seem to matter too.. lets ask the experts !!

..hahahaha cuz its easy------ very ez to guess backazzwards..AND ..we are just guessing at what you see....and me guessing from a turbo perspective... ( picturing my setup and wondering whats crushed or leaking on yours is already crazy)

... which way is your tune based and what exactley is the mechanical issue- doing to the ecm readings..... as in "what is " the problem totally doing to wack your tune .....if your ecm is getting the wrong measurements on tune based parameters....( ie measuring more air than its getting ie rich guess...... so i would take the lean warning very serious

. hey thats why you have a wb.......

is it an accurate wb reading ??? ......is the leak and crush close to the wb..... or is the wb measuring accurately a problem .... an actual lean condition.......
... the wb is doing its job "alerting you".... its up to you to get the problem identified and resolved...

..... sounds like an opportunity to learn something.........to teach us something too

the good news is you have dave and randy !!!........... every day that car survives is a testament to their product !!..........
WE KNOW THAT !!!....... mr wot everytime you get in it !!..lol....

a lil prudence is my advice !!
keep us "posted".....

All right, the tube didn't come crushed. That's I'm sure of. It must be something I ended up doing. I've had the lean code since day one, but there's no signs of it running wrong. It doesn't feel bad at all. Dave drove my car also and said the same. Doesn't make sense. I know though that with a boost leak it can cause the lean code to pop up. Then I press clear. My LTFT are definitely spiked up there, so something is up. I didn't know if this would cause the lean code also. My big hope is that with stage II everything becomes normal as I won't have that crushed pipe. The pipe could easily be letting out air it seems but that would then be rich. Something I didn't understand really. Unless the computer sees less air, makes it take less fuel, etc. But it idles at +19.5% LTFT. The idle on my W/B sweeps all over the place really but stays in the low 15's for the most part. Is this normal?? At WOT it hits low 12's but once I get to higher rpm's my boost drops a little bit and then my W/B goes up to 13.4 about. I need to get HP tuner here so I can start doing some logs and see what's up. Anyways, this has been a ongoing problem with me, and in no way do I blame DDM. I just want to solve it and move on in life.

Have you leak tested your system? If not, I would start there. You need to go to the hardware store and pickup a couple of ABS coupler caps that are the size of both your intake and SC inputs of your piping. Also pickup a tire valve. Drill one of the caps with a hole and install the tire valve, then disconnect both the SC side and Intake side of your piping and install the caps. Then fill the system with air and monitor with a pressure guage. It should hold pressure and not leak. If it does, start by using soapy water and squirt it on all the connections to see where it's leaking from.

Hope this helps.

Adding to what clearbra said, you can also buy a leakdown tester made for this on ebay.

what vaccum are you reading at idle? You should be reading 20-24. If your reading 17 or lower you have a leak.

Great, what if it is between 20-24?? Does this mean that I don't have a leak??

Then what could be causing the lean code?? Bad MAF, bad O2 sensor??

Spray brake cleaner while you car is idling around your pipe connections. If you have a leak, the brake cleaner will be sucked up and the car will sound different.

Your pulling the lean code because your car is not properly tuned. Thats my guess. I would recommend a custom tune from Dave at werks. He knows that ecm better then anybody.
