I wanted to make this post as a thing i could take to my tuning session to help the tuner out on tuning my turbo automatic 2.4. so any tips and help ican get on what we need to look for would be great. the guys has a partner in pcm for less that has tuned turbo solstices and will try and use that info for a baseline but he hasnt tuned a cobalt 2.4 ever before so i think any tips would be great so we can see my turbo 2.4 ss running the streets sooner than later. thanks guys. i have till the 24th before i take the car in. we are planning on using hp tuners for the record.

To the best of my knowledge NOBODY has a retune for the GXP Solstice yet ... PCMforLESS has not made any statement to that fact here and they are a supporting vendor on this site.

Have you looked for a Cobalt forum?
They might have the answers you are looking for.

we share the same block and i think thats is it. our 2.4 is all controlled by wires. no throttle linkage here. is the cobalt electronically controlled?

the differences with our engines starts at the tranny, and ends at the wheels. EVERYthing else, pcm included, is the same.

All LE5s are "fly by wire". The problem youre going to run into is finding someone who is farmiliar w/ our particular PCM(E67?), its different that the other ecotec PCMs. Apperently, there are no VE tables in this PCM so what youll most likely want to do is somehow incorporate a 2 bar MAP sensor, fake a 2 bar tune using something like a HPtuners and a wideband O2 then use the MAF to dial it in even closer(all done in open loop) and then finally check your work by allowing closed loop and watching long and short term fuel trims. Timing changes are pretty straight forward, start conservative and begin adding advance until you get knock sensor activity then pull it back some. Also there are alot of feature like DFCO(decel fuel cut-off) and COT(cat over temp) that will need to be shut off to get accurate wide band readings during tuning.

There are kits out now that use the factory MAP sensor but Id be willing to bet that theyre just turning off all likely to trigger MAP related DTCs so even though under boost the MAP isnt doing anything, at least its not turning on the check engine light.

if your not doing the tuning yourself, your best bet is to find someone local to do the tuning for you. The main reason being that your always going to have problems and minor changes. Just make it easier on yourself and have someone you can goto in a pinch.... thats the only tip i have for you.

If you want examples of methods other then HPtuners, do a seach for boostedsol's setup. He used LS1edit for the spark/maf/PE tuning and then used an extra-injector-controller for boost. Its agurably a better way to do it, but i prefer HPT.

If your PSI goals are under 12psi you dont need to worry about alot of things, and as long as your turbo isnt so small your getting huge amounts of partial throttle boost your tuner shouldnt have any issues with tuning.

And dont worry about the multi dementinal 5d VE vortex off alpha-omega quadreant 5... its some crazy advanced stuff you dont need to rake your brain on. Just stick to the normal routin, maf/pe/spark.
