Performance Shifter Install went as per instructions - one hitch was that I couldn't loosen off the set screw holding the OEM shifter. After breaking 2 allen keys (3/16"), I Googled "How to loosen off nuts with Blue Loctite ThreadLocker" - solution - heat set screw first, then turn. Bought a little butane torch, heated set screw for 20 seconds and it loosened right up.
Installation as per JPM instructions about 30 minutes once I had the old shifter out. Looks awesome Joe.
Where did you get your iphone mount?!!! I am looking around at a few. Will it fit the 3G? That one rocks. Oh ya the shifter is awesome!
I bought the mount for my previous version one iPhone and then modified it to fit the 3G iPhone as it is a little thicker. Removed the felt from the top slides and back and then cut out a section at the top left of the holder. This was required as Ringer Volume would completely off or to the highest volume sticking on the mount. A few cuts and it works perfectly. The added bonus is that it holds a Blackberry Curve perfectly when I don't have my iPhone in the holder.
The mount is bought separately (ultimount V2) $30 and then you buy the holder to match you device (now there is the miCradle 3G $20 for the iPhone 3G). I got these from Pro Fit International.
It also rotates for landscape view for Album view in iPod mode.
Feels better than OEM - more solid, you feel the gears engaging - probably because it's metal right through - no leather on the knob. If feels shorter but I don't think it is. I have the knob screwed right to the bottom as well.
How does that knob feel? I was thinkig about getting the same one, but in Poly...
Poly would more likely be less hot to the touch. Had the roof down and car was in the sun. It took a couple of minutes before that little aluminum piston cooled down.

The look and feel is worth the pain!
That's why I was thinking poly... Wait till a toronto winter with an aluminum knob...
