SOLO's "N/A AXLE BACK" Exhaust Kit

SOLO PERFORMANCE has another exhaust kit for the 2006-2008 2.4 Solstice.

This thread features the "N/A AXLE BACK" exhaust kit.

1) This kit was designed to give maximum value for minimum price.

2) The N/A AXLE BACK kit comes in three separate pieces and includes all necessary hardware.

3) This was designed with the "do-it-yourselfer" in mind. The hardest parts will be cutting your original exhaust system.

4) Absolutely no drone at any rpm ranges coupled with a beautiful performance rumble.

5) The N/A AXLE BACK kit comes with stainless steel T409, muffler and a T304 stainless tip. The heavy duty hangers and welds are all stainless.

6) This beautiful exhaust note is created by SOLO's big body STORM series muffler. As it says in our catalog, "For customers that want the tone but not the drone!"

PM sent. Any thoughts on how much louder this is than stock? I have a shorty header, which made things sound kind of buzzy.

Thanks very much guys. Hope you are all doing well. The exhaust note is unique. It's a moderate or mid range rumble. It's tricky to get the 2.4 not to drone when you have a resonator. Without a resonator it's even harder. We had to use the big body STORM to do this. It's a mid range wonderful sound that cuts down enough noise not to drone but still has enough sound to have a very nice rumble. On a loudness scale from 1-10 it's about a 5, but a very sweet 5.

That is a nice looking piece for a N/A car owner that doesn't want to mod their vehicle too heavily.

Hi! Thanks for your interest and comments. We appreciate it very much. I'll try to answer some of the questions.
1) AZDark - Your 2.4 Mach with Res gets it's sound quality from the front resonator and a free flowing muffler in the rear. The Axle Back has a "semi chambered" muffler and of course no resonator. With the axle back kit everything is being done with the muffler and the big body 1/2 chambered, 1/2 free flow Storm worked very well.

2) Acadian - I'm not sure about the Curt Hitch and this kit. The axle back kit follows the path of the OE exhaust so it "should" work or come close to working. Since it's in 3 pieces if it didn't work a good exhaust shop could modify it slightly to work. As soon as I have any definite info I will let you know. If we sold it to you and it didn't work you could ship it back to us for a refund.

3) The Drone... This is an absolutely no drone system. We do not have any information on the drone when it comes to high flow cats and headers incorporated into the mix. My guess would be that the exhaust note would expand by about 20%-30% but there would still be no drone. This would be great information to have but at this point we can't say fir sure. If you were to order and there was an unacceptable drone we would not leave you high and dry. There would be a few options we could offer you.

Thanks I hope this helps.

Hi Solstice-D sorry I forgot about your question. We do not currently have a muffler that we could use. We unfortunately do not have any plans for the near future to do a axle back dual. Thanks.

Hi. Here is a few pics of the N/A Axle Back kit. Here are a few install tips. The cut point is critical. We have 3 measurements that all point to the same cut line. From the bottom seam of the muffler to the cut line is 15 3/4". From the end of the rear bend to the cut line is 5". From the cut line to the start of the next bend is 3". This gives you 3 separate measurements to the same line. We use a sawzall to cut the stainless pipe. Here are a few key points to this install.
1) Put everything up and in place loosely and align properly before tightening.
2) The muffler is a "CENTER" inlet.
3) The offset end of the muffler is the outlet.
4) The muffler angles up into the cavity at a 45 degree angle. Run your hand along the top backside of the muffler and make sure you have 3/4" clearance all around.
5) When it's aligned properly have someone hold the tailpipe in the proper place and begin tightening from the front to the back. You will need to tighten 3 clamps.
6) If the system doesn't fall into place please review the pictures.
We hope this helps.
