SQR2 for V8 Swap?

I am going to be getting a Solstice soon and I'm starting to research all of the mods that I want to do. I really like the look of the center exit exhaust, but my plan is to eventually (probably next winter) do an LS3 V8 swap. What I'm wondering is if I get the SQR2 system to install right away, when I do the V8 swap will it still have enough quieting power to not deafen everybody around?

How I visualize it happening is that after the V8 is installed, I'd just cut the muffler inlets right after the Y pipe and have the headers plumbed to there (with an x-pipe). If that'll end up too loud, do you have a muffler that would fit in the tunnel to replace the x-pipe (similar to your LS3 Camaro system) that I'd be able to add?

Thanks!

If i were you, I'd go to Solo's web site, get their phone number, and then call them and ask your question.

IOW, I don't have an answer for you.

When you put in the V8 you will have a different configuration and the packaging will be a challenge. The transmission is different and fitting the exhaust with cats up front into the available space is a challenge. My car has dual cats up front (they need to be far enough forward to stay hot) followed by the X cross over, followed by a pair of resonaters. No muffler. It sounds great. Its not too loud.
When they built my exhaust they reused the tips that were on the car. They are black powdercoated Magnaflow parts that are all that remain of my former 2.0 exhaust.

I agree on the center exhaust.

On one of the V8 builds we did, we used the rear section from a SOLO SQR-2 and it worked really well and looked great. The exhaust tubing for the exhaust from the rear axles forward was not used though since all of that tubing is not like stock.

Hope that helps,
Dave

I have two Sols. One has the 4 banger 2.4 with a DDM supercharger and an SQR2 exhaust. The other has an LS3 with a Werks true dual Center exhaust. Although they both look nearly the same with Norms Center exhaust fascias, they are quite different.

I would say that you should not expect to salvage much from a sqr2 when doing a v8 conversion. Everything is very tight under a T56 transmission, and the pipes need special routing accordingly. The crossover exhaust in a V8 is really nice to have, as are the two separate pipes out the back, which wrap around the diff.

I have pics of both, so pm me your e-mail if you want and I can send them to you.

The Solo RCD sounds absolutely incredible with an LS2 V8. Just had it installed on the latest charity car. Thanks so much, Jeff and Solo!!

What Dave from DDMWorks said is correct. You can use the rear section, but the front will probably be different. It nothing that a good shop could do easily in the front. It sounds awesome with the V8 swap!!!
