Anyone from the Plant Tour remember where to put the hood protector strips?

Well like a dope I waited until today to put the 3M protectors on the hood of my GXP. Trouble is I don't remember exactly how they are supposed to be put on. Anyone have pictures or remember the correct position for these strips? Thanks.

I don't know if there were part numbers it was something they were adding to the line of new cars to protect the paint from rubbing. I believe there was a service bulitan bout it, so in time you will be able to have your dealer take care of it for you.

Squirrel boy thanks for the reply. I tried to outline the stickers to make them more visible in the pic. Let me know if I have it correctly. Black - triangle piece, blue - strip. Excuse the horrible graphics, I'm using my winders desktop and Photoshop is on my Mac laptop (Charging in another room). Paint is tough to use and make look good.

I hear ya Morfious, I just put mine on yesterday and forgot most of it too. The longer pieces I think I got right from looking at the picture. I ended up guessing on the triangle pieces but looks like I put them in right area too. No idea what the slight difference was in the 2 triangles Interesting I found I had a wear mark on the one side where the triangle ones went so just in time

I did see part numbers on the table but didn't write them down sorry.

edit: whoops on 2nd view it looks I put the triangle ones upside down. I figured the meater end went more over that small hump between the screws but that was just a guess. Seems to cover most of it so guess it will work ok.

Thanks for pics Squirrel and thanks also to you Morph for the outlines. I was about to install them from notes and visuals from you guys beats my narrative hands down. I too have a slight mean smudge on top of the tire well just where these strips will cover. -bird

I noticed the smudge on my wheel wells also. Is there a part # for the strips or is it like the 3M clear product?

They were 3M products but they also showed part numbers for both Sky and Sol. Maybe someone else got the numbers or has access to parts catalog.

There are some parts listed in the next parts group from where the hood is listed. But they do not show in any illustrations to confirm where they go.

They are listed as "Hood Protector". The is one number with a usage of "2" and another listed as "Left" and "right".

So it follows the verbal discriptions listed in this thread.

No guarantee that these are the parts, but here goes.

Hood Protector (2) #25833317 should be bought for [email protected] at your dealership's parts department.

Hood Protector-LH #25833315 for $3.56.

Hood Protector-RH #25833316 for $3.56.

As of yet, there has been no information sent to dealerships about this product change. If there is, then the dealership might then have instructions on the locations to install the "protectors" and the appropriate information to change the owners that request the update.

UPDATE 6/5/2007
Part numbers have been confirmed in a TSB issued today, and by Latin Venom's purchase of the threee protectors.

INFORMATION POSTED ON SITE
Any Service Manual, Technical Service Bulletin, Priliminary Service Bulletin, Part, Accessory, Sales or Product information found here on site, should be thought of as correct and accurate as of the date it was posted. After that any information or service procedure should be confirmed as still correct with your dealership.

Yes, Thank you SD!

Is this likely to be a service bulletin or will it be a charge item since it was not original to the 2006?

Thank you,

John
