clear film dirty around edges

The clear film on my Solstice GXP has dirt/mold forming on the edges of the clear protective film. Is there any products that will clean this without harming the paint?

if you are talking about the protective film on the trunk, you can remove it and clean up the paint. They are not needed.

If your going to remove them warm them up with a hair dryer makes them easier to remove and use some mineral spirits to clean up any residue left over it will not harm the paint

The film is actually in several locations on the car, nose, door handles, etc. I was hoping not to remove it because it does protect it from some dents and dings. Can you use a mildew spray? Would that harm the paint? The car is white anyway. :-)

If the edge has lifted your best course of action is replacing it

If yours are improperly aligned, and do come in contact with the trunk lid paint, then you can get generic clear bra material, cut out the piece you need and install it. Problem solved.

The buttress plug rings are held on with 3M tape. You can use dental floss and a little heat to pop them off, then heat the existing plastic film to get the glue to release and pull them off. A little solvent will remove any residual glue.
@rob the elder Did you just re-3M tape the plug rings down?

This sounds like a fun job worth trying this weekend....
