Emblem on the steering wheel airbag

Hi,
So either the massive heat got to it or I just finally started noticing little things!! Noticed the "bubbles" in the door panels, saw fixes and options in other discussions, just a daunting task for a car novice!
The emblem on the steering wheel is warped/buckled, can we purchase separately from airbag? Saw airbags with emblem, just don't need the whole assembly.

Sorry, no

They are very thin metal and not replaceable. Some have replaced them with a custom made graphic. I pulled mine and made a Punisher graphic to replace the factory one.

you can get a drivers side airbag on eBay for between $80.00 to $200.00. Kinda pricey but just about your only option. One good note if you go that way. The steering wheel airbag is one of the easiest parts on the whole car to remove and replace. I've had mine out twice to work on steering wheel radio controls. Five minutes tops.

If you are replacing the emblem, think about whatever you are using as a replacement being propelled directly into your chest if the airbag is deployed.

I have noticed that parts from other GM cars can be used on the Solstice. Were the emblems used on other car's steering wheels.

Just a thought!

I don't think you can remove one and put another one on safely. As John or Dave said, this is not a normal badge. It is designed to tear apart and disperse to the side, not straight. Not really something to play with in honesty. You should be able to find one on Ebay or a junk yard. Be safe.

Its held in by tabs on the sides. I used a small screw driver and removed mine. Then I replaced it with a graphic printed on self stick plastic film.

Oh! Now I see what you mean! It would become a projectile in case of airbag deployment.

Well my OCD will have to live with it or exchange for a less dangerous material!

I never knew all those times I went to Dad how much he did or had to know! My Dad could fix anything. Gosh I miss calling him and asking what to do about.....!

Thanks guys for the help and patience with my silly questions!
