Now We Know What a New Solstice Coupe is Worth!

$45,250, 34 miles.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...c-solstice-12/

The list price in Canada for my coupe was $40,690 Can. What did they go for in the US? Not enough to be worth holding that car for 10 years considering interest etc.

Hope the buyer actually drives the car.

Current fleet:
1957 Jamaican bodied MGA
1958 MGA Twin Cam (race car)
1962 MGA Deluxe Coupe
1971 Jensen Interceptor
2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe
2007 BMW Z4M coupe
Recently departed: 1965 Jensen CV8, 1969 Lamborghini Islero S, 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT, 1969 MGC roadster

Wow, last I checked earlier today it was in the $28K range. I've been reading the comments since it was posted and I'm glad to see that they have been mostly positive about Solstices.

Yeah - except for the guy that was harping about it not being a coupe. Wanted to tell him to take that up with GM as they were the ones that called it that.

The price was good - never going to see a better coupe - basically no miles, the rarest version (GXP manual) and never titled before. That establishes the high water mark and there probably aren't any others as good hiding out there unless other dealers that held one hoping to make killing have one or two stashed.

No killing was made - calculate the cost of the money being outstanding for a decade, with interest.

Lol, when I read those comments I thought of you because you've said in the past that you wished it had been a hardtop coupe. Plus I agree that it's not a true coupe due to the targa.

It probably sold for about $34k new, plus tax, title, any other fees.
Then you have insurance for 10 years and hopefully some maintenance.
I'm going to guess it was at best a break even.

Too bad we're not playing "The Price is Right" -- I guessed $45,000, mainly because of all the publicity it got.
Do I get a chance at the Final Showcase, Drew?

I found an S&P 500 Investment calculator.

$35k in 2009 plus $100 per month since, would yield $152k today, $138k after capital gains taxes.

The “Great Bull Run” from the bottom in March 2009. The S&P hit the low of 666. I am a big believer in US stocks long term against any asset class. Still happy to see my “Coupe Cash” is intact. I also think should I decide to sell my Coupe it will be easier than the roadster. Right now, drive them both and love them!!!!!

There were a few dealer owned new coupes being held in the early days - I wonder if this is the last one to hit the market?

Hopefully the few that thought they would MAKE money holding a coupe have learned the facts of life and finance, but it is certainly a nice thing for coupe owners that they depreciate so much more slowly than the convertibles.

Has anyone seen the sale of a similar zero mile convertible in recent years? Wonder what they bring?

If it's been sitting for 10 years and really never been driven, I'd be a little concerned with seals and gaskets going south under repeated WOT driving...
