Are you talking about a shifter plate for the Solstice? I've never seen one on our cars, but I have seen them on other cars.

Though it would be a cool idea if one was available.

Note that it is only cool if the tunnel is very solid and there isn't much play in the shift linkage. I've owned cars that had tunnels unsuitable for that sort of accuracy (some Triumphs actually used cardboard tunnels) or shifters that had enough leeway and slop that you could possibly hang up on one of the slots going in.

I think that the Solstice would probably be fine - but everyone should get the short shift kit as well!

This is interesting reading:

This starts a whole new conversation on the demise of the manual transmission. When I took my driver's test you had to take it in a manual shift car OR have a note on your driver's license indicating that you could only drive a car with an automatic transmission...Oh how times have changed. Of course then just about all cars were offered with a manual transmission, an automatic was an option. If you enjoy the fun of driving and controlling the car you probably still enjoy a manual transmission. We are close to the day when there will be no manual transmission cars offered...or are we??

I think that the clutch pedal will go first. Manually shifted dual-clutch transmissions will stay around for a while after that.

Eventually everything is likely to be electric and/or autonomous, but I don't think we are particularly "close" to that.

From what I read, we are getting closer every year. Remember back in the day when everyone said you had to get a manual if you wanted to be fast. The only reason that I can think of to choose a manual today is if you want to still feel as if your are in control of the car. Mechanical cog + A human cog + mechanical cog = nirvana.
