Happy 10th Anniversary To Your 2009 & 10 Coupes

Feel free to post a pic of your car on the anniversary of it's build date. Originally I was going to wait until the 10th year anniversary of our coupe until I realized there was more than 479 built (plus) before ours. On 6/3/2009 my wife and I picked up GXP #480 from Superior Buick GMC dealership in Dearborn, MI. Build date is 5/13/2009.

Much thanks to RedOne knowledge about Kappa VINS and letting me know that coupe VIN 9Y000001 was built on 4/8/2009 (Warranty date 4/9/2009 ), sales state; Michigan.

Coupe #2 (9Y000002) was bought by a entertainment personality DerekD. He hosted a Podcast called FastLaneDaily and asked his fans what car he should buy (BMW 128, VW GTI, Solstice GXP, or Cobalt SS/TC) and the Solstice coupe won out, more than likely due to the influence of the SolsticeForum members. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zn8QWRqSIY&t=472s

Minor correction: Build date: 4/8/2009, Warranty Date: 4/9/2009. Curiosity here, how did that vehicle get from Delaware plant to Michigan and sold in only one day?

9Y000001, my guess is that it is firmly tucked away in the Heritage collection, owned by GM.

But I could be wrong, I frequently miss on these guesses

The info I found was Lutz's VIN is 9Y106944.

BTW, I hope this thread doesn't turn into a statistic, production number type thread. We have so many of those types of threads already.

I just wanted to start a thread that celebrated that the coupes have reach the 10 year milestone, and ask coupe owners to post pic of their 10 year old coupes. I'll probably wait to post pics of ours until the build date, that will give me time to clean it up and take some current pics.

Missed my coupe birthday was 4/15/2009 vin # 116. What a joy it's been putting the first 40K miles on it over the past 10 years. Looking forward to getting the Kappa's back out after their long winters nap in the next week!

May 7 for mine (378).

Five years and counting until it is 15 years old and eligible for collector status under our rules (less than 1500 made). Not that it makes a huge difference, but the insurance is much lower and I can put it on a transferable plate that I can swap at will between the other collector status cars I have.

They made more than 4,000 of its stablemate so no collector status for another 10 years for it.

Current fleet:
1957 Jamaican bodied MGA
1958 MGA Twin Cam (race car)
1962 MGA Deluxe Coupe
1971 Jensen Interceptor
2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe
2007 BMW Z4M coupe
Recently departed: 1965 Jensen CV8, 1969 Lamborghini Islero S, 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT, 1969 MGC roadster

Interesting, my door build date sticker says 5/13/09, that document has it listed as 5/14/09.

Ahhh, that infamous list . . . one of the cars on that first page is a convertible (9y106110).

Other than that little error, the list is accurate, or at least I haven't found any more errors.

So, 1265 coupes rather than 1266.

Have fun!

I took this pic a couple weeks back to celebrate that 10 years ago today our GXP was built based on the door build date of 5/13/09. Forum member Small Dealer helped us find a dealership that had a black and red GXPs. So we drove about a 100 miles from home to look at them and ended up buying this beauty on 6/3/2009. But when we went to sign the paperwork and pick it up to drive home was told that the dealership owner had taken it out for lunch. So we waited until it was returned to finish the paperwork. Gosh, 10 years really does fly by.
