Mecum must have added that estimate bid of $40-$50,000 because I would have remember and included it when I posted it in mid October. Regardless, definitely going to try and watch. Normally I watch the internet livestream on the laptop, and sometimes watch it if also being broadcasted on NBCSN at the same time. That way I don't miss the cars crossing the block during commercials. BTW, I'm thinking closer to $25-$30,000.

That is about where I had it pegged, maybe a bit higher because it's a coupe, but not a lot, maybe $25 - $35,000.

I was just reading the Mecum ad again and it says; comes with rare chromed Solstice alloy wheels

I believe the split spoke wheels were only available in a polished finish. The only time I've seen chrome split spokes is when I asked the owner of some if they came that way and was told no and that he had sent them to a chrome shop.

FWIW, many times people will refer to the polished wheels as "chrome", i.e. "bright and shiny", therefore, must be chrome.

You are correct. Plus no coupe ever sold was equipped with those wheels, all of the street editions were NA verts. GM took advertising pics of a coupe with those wheels on it and forever after people will think that's how they came.

Current fleet:
1957 Jamaican bodied MGA
1958 MGA Twin Cam (race car)
1962 MGA Deluxe Coupe
1971 Jensen Interceptor
2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe
2007 BMW Z4M coupe
Recently departed: 1965 Jensen CV8, 1969 Lamborghini Islero S, 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT, 1969 MGC roadster

These wheels were also on the Coupe I saw at the Orange County Auto Show, October of 2008:

I must say that that particular set of Q9Y wheels certainly appear to be chromed . . .

No, I think they're just highly polished... not chrome

Owner of "Campbelle", a Brazen 2008 GXP ... with mods piling up...

None of the Q9Y came anything but polished coated alloy.

The fact that the publicity photos showed the coupe with Q9Ys on it leads to two things - many coupe owners (myself included) have fitted those wheels to their cars, and there is now a common and oft repeated misconception that they were original fitment.

To make things more confusing, the Canadian dealer brochures mistakenly shows the Q9Y wheels as one of the stock fitments when it wasn't. The dealer and I had some words over that one - they wanted something like $2400 to swap the wheels out as the Canadian list price on them was around $600 each even though they were probably made by the same factory in China that was punching out an endless supply of other alloy wheels at around $100 each or less.

I agree, but there is no accounting for what GM's show prep department may do in prepping a demo car for a show. It only takes a day or two to chrome a polished wheel.

The only original fitment was on the 2009 Street Edition Solstice Convertible which I show as 138 cars in the US. Don't know about Canada and/or Mexico.

Did you win that one?

On the yellow GXP from Sweden, everything went perfectly, photos of the family, wife distraught about selling her favorite car. Car was dropped at the port, with pictures. About 4 hours later, received a call from Williams transport services. The seller did not leave the deposit for shipping the car, I would need to get it to them in the next 15 to 20 minutes via wire transfer. I did not respond, about two hours later I got a text from the seller explaining the whole mess up, he was so sorry, I told him so was I. Have not heard from him again.

Could not get a single agency to do anything about it. Pretty sad when they won't respond to a 5K theft.

Thanks for all the information on this guys.

The current registry shows 001000 to be at a dealer in Langhorne, PA as of 1/2016, though it may not have sold via eBay.
