It appears to be ALL, and if your car has not been in for the seal replacement... in fact there appears to be no criteria for skipping those who *have* been in and replaced. I'm sure the dealers will be instructed to inspect, then replace. So if the rear end isn't showing signs of leaking, why touch it? I doubt it will be a carte blanche replace all, irregardless of symptoms.

I'm wondering the same thing. Mine's not going in unless I start having an issue.

I have an open diff and have had it leaking from the pinion seal once. They just replaced it when i complained about the whine that just started to happen ~~20k miles. (yeah, my dealer rocks.)

I have an '06 and never had any problems, no leaks. Should I do this recall or let sleeping dogs lie?

The recall document, which can be found in this thread:
https://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=37851
makes no mention of locking versus non-locking diffs. It appears to apply to all models.

Even better, here's the post:

He would be referring to a Solstice with Limited Slip Differential.

But, as Chief stated the statement from GM doesn't say anything with regard to LSD or Non-LSD vehicles ... it states ALL pinion seals.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it!

I had the seal replaced in my 06 before I traded it in. A couple of months ago I was looking on mygmlink.com and saw the new owner had it replaced again. I never took the car off my account.

wondering the same thing, I have been led to believe that the warrenty on a recalled replacement reverts to the full original warrenty of the vehicle subsystem and for the specific item which for 2006's would be 3 year 360000 and for 2007 5 year 600000, been off the forum for a while...smallcardealer you still out there?

I am sure GM has been well aware to the differential issue since day one. It has probably recently achieved the status of Cost Effective to do something about it.

I am curious as to the number of Solstice/Sky that will leave the dealerships with brand new seals, and a new set of improper lift procedure fender dents LOL. Service with caution my kappa brethren.
So until Feb...

Well, did GM really come up with a better seal, or are they just going to stick in another OEM seal that will fail in about 10K?

Thanks, Dave Russell

I almost posted the same thing.

I guess it could be called the pinion dent.

Serene will be a color! Even if only on one car.
