A lot of people had photos on Photobucket. Photobucket recently changed policy and demanded ransom from photo owners so their pictures would continue to be visible on pages like this. If they didn't pay the ransom, their pictures were replaced with a note that they needed to upgrade service. Many people refused to pay so their photo links have expired and photos are no longer visible.

Which is why the admin for this forum changed permissions to allow ALL members to post photos directly to their posts. It used to be a requirement to be a paying member to be able to post photos directly to posts but no longer. All members can now post directly to threads by selecting "Reply to Thread" and then selecting the paper clip icon in the message menu. That will allow them to link to pictures that will be uploaded and be available for the life of the thread.

as for old photobucket images, we could try taking them directly from PB and reposting it on the forum.

Thanks for attempting to explain how I can view photos attached to a thread..
I followed u r suggestion of clicking on "reply to thread" and the "paperclip" icon, but this only showed me how to download my photos. I am interested in viewing other member's photos . Are u saying that unless all posting members follow this technique their photos cannot be seen by other readers? Thanks again

Could you explain in more detail what occurs when you attempt to view photos:
Does the photo show up as a thumbnail pic and you click on it to enlarge it?
Does the member post have a small blue square where the photo is and the photo will not open?

A little more detail on what occurs when trying to view a photo will help narrow down the issue.

There is no way I know of to view a photo if what you see is this:

Advertisement Blocking Browser Behavior?

That's really odd. I am able to view the photo directly without any clicking or other action required.

Further, it shows as a re-sized photo (640 pixels wide) and the javascript which displays the full size image works equally well, expanding the image back to the original size.

I am using Safari, and an unmodified Firefox browser also displays correctly. I wonder if this might be a javascript or cross site image blocking issue with your browser configuration.

I occurs to me that since this image source is different from the base page URL that you might have some advertisement blocking software which is not showing the images from PhotoBucket.

You might be able to put an exception into your ad blocking software to allow "photobucket[.]com"

Here is the code that the site wraps the image with:

Code:
<div id="post_message_2080042" itemprop="text" class="nolinks">
  There is no way I know of to view a photo if what you see is this:<br>
  <br>
  <table class="ncode_imageresizer_warning"
    id="ncode_imageresizer_warning_1" width="640">
    <tbody>
      <tr>
	<td class="td1" width="20"><img
	  src="https://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/images/statusicon/wol_error.gif"
	  alt="" width="16" height="16" border="0"></td>
	<td class="td2">This image has been resized. Click this bar
	  to view the full image.</td>
      </tr>
    </tbody>
  </table>
  <img src="http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad339/TomatoSoup_GXP/UltraGuage_mount.jpg"
    alt="" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);"
    id="ncode_imageresizer_container_1"
    class="ncode_imageresizer_original" width="640" height="479"
    border="0">
  <table class="ncode_imageresizer_warning2" id="ncode_imageresizer_warning_1" width="640">
    <tbody>
      <tr>
	<td class="td2" width="100%" align="right"><br>
	</td>
	<td class="td1"><a
	  href="http://abuse.verticalscope.com/report/index.php?referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.solsticeforum.com%2Fforum%2Fforum%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D149994&amp;imageurl=http%3A%2F%2Fi949.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad339%2FTomatoSoup_GXP%2FUltraGuage_mount.jpg">Report
	  this image</a></td>
      </tr>
    </tbody>
  </table>
</div>
So, since the image source URL, i949[.]photobucket[.]com, is different than the forum base URL, www[.]solsticeforum[.]com,
I suspect you might need to try viewing the site with your ad blocking software turned off.

Thanks for posting an example.

I have had issues with thumbnail photos as well. When I left click on a thumbnail the entire screen turns almost black, there is still a little of the page visible but it is like looking through very dark tinted glass. If I scroll down the rest of the page is readable.
I have found that if, instead of left click, I right click and then scroll down and click on "open" the thumbnail image comes up just as it should. Not sure if this is the problem you are having, hope this helps.

cant see members photos

Thanks all:
Problem solved by installing the "Photobucket Embed Fix" for Mozilla, as suggested by a member. Thumbnails are now visible
