Thanks to Dave and MomSol and Sheena for the resurrection. Now to dodge the rain and get some information added to the original thread.

That worked, but it wasn't the same thread as is/was the google search from inside the forum using the search tool on the upper right side of the toolbar up top of the page.

YMMV

Well to add to the mystery either Yesterday or Sunday when typing the solsticeforum url in Google Chrome I got a notice about a virus.
I quickly shut down the computer and restart it. I waited about 4 hours and then type the solsticeforum url and everything was fine.
So I wonder if the site got hit with a Virus and the Admins had to do some repairs.

PS: It was not Bill in BC who suggested to put the OEM shifter back, it was me.

LV,

Yes, I responded to the thread and your suggestion after your post, then the followup today. It is so often easy to be too close to a problem and not see a simple solution. The swap was a very good suggestion. Still don't know why the car did what it did but going back confirmed my change seems to have been the cause of the NVH. Maybe the short shifter kit would make all right with the world, or at least be another contribution to the economy...

Thank you. Richard

Would the DDM short shifter help?

I guess we could say re installation of the stock shifter found or at least isolated the problem in this instance. I had made my decision based upon information gleaned from an almost 2 year old thread, Shift Knobs, https://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f...-knobs-115697/ and the experience of wspohn (Bill in BC) with the lightweight wood knob. Seems the NVH I experienced must be unusual?

Rather than spend more time on this, I wonder if the DDM short shifter might make a difference enough to use the adapter and wood knob... or just be more time, anxiety and expense. Doing a bit of reading on the short shifter now.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Richard
