I just bought a 2007 Solstice and am developing a list of issues

I just bought a 2007 Solstice and am developing a list of issues

1) The rear compartment actuator in the glove box worked once the day I bought it and has not worked since.
2) There is an airbag service warning on the dash.
3) The passenger airbag off light stays on with someone sitting in the seat.
4) The red airbag light stays on solid on the dash.
5) The red seat belt light flashes sometimes and chimes sometimes.

I'm kind of wondering if it might all be from a bad BCM. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum
You probably have a failed passenger presence detector. There is a recall out for this. See the dealer

Welcome Kevin.

1 - my trunk release in the glove box and be temperamental also - cycle it a few times to see if it straightens out. The release on the key fob has worked flawlessly, however.

2-5 - as Rob said, probably the passenger seat sensor.

2007 2.4L N/A. Stock + some pretty crap.

The seat sensor recall will be fixed at no cost to you. I just had mine done a few weeks ago.

Issues 2-5 all sound like they are connected to that.

Everyone has told you about the seat recall. Here's some pertinent info to call the dealer with (Seat Sensor recall is at the bottom). While you are there, check the other applicable recalls have been done too!

As to the trunk release button

My first recommendation is to cycle the button several times to see if it comes back to life. They are finicky.

Next is . .. sadly the button is a pain in the butt to access. If anyone has done work on the dash, they generally pull the button apart then once they get the dash back together they just push the button back into the switch. It can function that way for weeks or maybe forever, or it can stop working at all.

You can pick up a new button here

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I found that nearly every car with an issue with the button has had some work done on the dash and the tech that pulled the dash did not properly remove the button but pulled it apart. Then they just push them back together and it works so . . they move on.

There are a couple of threads that describe how to replace this button. It is a real pain in the ass but I have done it and documented it in text and pictures in the Punisher thread. See the index in my signature to see if you can find the posts with that info.

I lived with mine after it was pressed back together for months till I had occasion to remove and replace the dash board. Then I put in a new one. I keep a couple of spares just because.

Good luck! And welcome to the neighborhood

I will mention that I had the seat sensor recall done recently and then this month...the error appeared on the dash. Which led to a $900 bill from the dealer. I am not pleased.

The recall is warranted for a year. If the new failure was within that time there should be no cost for the repair. Contact your dealer again, or GM customer service.

Thank you all. I am taking mine in on Thursday so they can determine what parts I will need for the passenger seat.

Both my fob and glove box button fail to open the trunk... doesn't even make a sound. I'll have to step through it. what are all of the logic criteria to be met before it will open. I assume there is some speed sensor that prevents it from opening while your moving also.

The transmission is acting a bit hinky. I doesn't shift to fourth except from third and even that can be a struggle. When you are running in fourth an let your foot off of the gas, it starts making some evil growling noise.

I have the "heat on every setting except the coldest" problem. I have done the re-calibration sequence several times, but no change. I guess I'll have to add a resister or replace the control box.

Thanks again everyone!

I did get rid of the USB cable and got a good heavy nylon cord attached and working. I rerouted it to the edge of the little silver trap door. When I'm ready to use it I slip the end of the cord under the rubber top seal and pull out, from the outside of the car. It is a much better angle for pulling the lever over for me.

Now the lid is not popping up enough to keep from re-latching. I'm going to try cleaning and lubing and maybe some armor all on the trunk seal to keep it from grabbing. I may have to get some springs.

If the trunk is not opening properly, check the two torsion bars. They have been known to break. Consider getting the air lift kit from Germany made for the Sky. It can be adapted to fit the Solstice and does a great job of opening the trunk. I have the install procedure described in the Punisher thread. Some cutting is required.
