first 1000 solstice for sale in Philadelphia

I have mixed emotions about putting my Solstice up for sale, but the fact of the matter is that since I have retired in 2012 I haven't put even 10,000 miles on the odometer. It's parked in the garage which makes it inconvenient since my driveway is only one car wide and I need to move one or two vehicles to get it out. When I run errands I'm usually in my truck with my dog, and when I go out with my wife I'm in the BMW sedan... so it just doesn't get driven very much.
It's going to be even more inconvenient in a few weeks when I bring home an Airstream trailer and park it in the driveway too.
If anyone is interested you can see it on the Philadelphia Craigslist

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/...544614660.html

also I'm interested to hear from the Forum members regarding the valuation even if they already have their Solstice and aren't looking to purchase another.

Solst1ce,

I have been looking at and pricing these cars for the last couple of months and IMO your well cared for somewhat 'limited' Solstice is priced right and should not take long to sell with Summer right around the corner.

Since you asked, I maintain a couple different threads on a daily basis. One for low priced cars (generally high mileage), and another for low mileage cars (generally high prices). I'd say the majority of the cars close to or over over 100,000 miles are in the 5 to 6,000 range (depending on condition). Now a lot of those cars can be in rough condition, but I also have listed some that appear to have been well taken care of.

Low prices thread. I do try and stick close to $5,000, but will include some that go as high as $5,800 because I figure sellers usually leave room for negotiating.

Low mileage thread. I try and stick close to 20,000 miles, but like above include exceptions depending on the car.
https://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f...6/index12.html

Here's a couple of low mileage recent examples.
2008, 2.4, Auto, Mean, 8,385 Miles, $10,000, Northport, AL

2006, Manual, Sly, 13,000 Miles, $9,500, Tottenville, NY

2006, Manual, Mysterious, 5,016 Miles, $11,900, Spokane, WA
https://spokane.craigslist.org/ctd/d...556977880.html (pics)

And even a 1st 1000; though I doubt the seller will get anything near their asking price, but then maybe that's the intent.
2006, 1st 1000 (#56), Manual, Silver, 5,000 Miles, $30,000, Chicago, IL

Unfortunately our beloved kappas are depreciating. I don't think the fact that it is a first 1000 will add very much to the value. Your car has 92,000 miles on it, so would fall into the high mile category. IMO you are high priced. Good luck with your sale.

Like WickedMike, when I looked at your CL ad, my first thought was that your price was a bit high, especially since you have 92K miles on it. But . . . I am not conversant with the Philly market and each market is different. Watch the dealer ads and see what the local dealers are asking. That'll give you a better feel for your market.

It looks to me like you are in the right ball park to start advertising the car. Maybe drop it a hundred to be in the nine thousand range.

The problem with owning a first one thousand car is only people in the Solstice community even know what it is and appreciate its unique status. The public at large look at it as a nicely cared for old sports car to be purchased, consumed and passed on to someone else.

The fact that you have driven it nearly a hundred k miles, its in obviously excellent shape and you keep it in the garage even though its a pain to do so suggests that maybe you are not really ready to get rid of it. Maybe take a couple thousand and throw up a nice cover for the car and park it where you can get it in and out easily.

We have two and they stay in the garage while the DD sit out in the snow and sun. I park my DD on the street to leave the driveway open for the two kappas.

Thanks everyone for the info and the guidance. We sold our previous BMW by putting a sign in the windshield and parking it in front of our house. Priced it reasonably and got a full price offer from the first caller.
Maybe I'll accept that the first 1000 will not bring a premium and drop the price... or maybe I'll just keep it.
