C8 Corvette Live Stream Reveal 7/18/19 7:30PM PDT/10:30PM EDT

It's almost here!

The livestream opens at 7:30 p.m. PDT/10:30 p.m. EDT on July 18 and can be accessed through https://media.chevrolet.com/nextgenCorvette which also will be sent out on Chevrolet’s social media channels. The stream will include Corvette video footage, a hosted preshow and the reveal presentation. It will be available for viewing across the globe, in all seven continents.

General Motors doesn’t want to keep its customers waiting after the mid engine Corvette C8 debut party later this month, so it has scheduled a special introductory “tour” for it. The new sports car will embark on a cross-country road trip, visiting 125 Chevrolet dealerships all over the USA and allowing interested customers to get up-close with the car shortly after its debut.

I like it!

I still remember the days when the dealers put paper over the windows of the show room to hide the new models from view until reveal day!

I have seen the pictures, and think it looks cool. Would never buy the first model year a complete change vehicle. There will be bugs and the price will be high. Next year, or the following, who knows. I bought a late year 1967 and loved it. Bought a 71 and it was pretty kool. Buddy bought a 74 and it was the biggest piece of crap I can ever remember. Things are different now I am sure, but it will be perfected over the next few years. I will wait to get too excited about it.

Under $60K for base model that will do 0-60 under 3 seconds..... $60K is a lot of $ for me but I think they did good with a car like that compared to their competition costs.

I'll never own one but I am sure there will be quite a few on the streets.. I will stick with my affordable GXP

I stayed up and watched part of it. It was somewhat anticlimactic because the renderings that Chazcron has been doing on the mid engine Corvette forum has been spot=on. It seems a little weird to have read about a mid engine Corvette for decades, and to finally see that it happened.

When I bought my 67, they were talking bout it coming out in 68. Year after year I heard the mid engine cry. Glad they finally did it.

0-60 under three seconds in a sub-$60k package is impressive. Awaiting other performance metrics, like skidpad, but I suspect they will be impressive.

However, it lost me when it lost the third pedal. Paddle shift may be faster, and it's fun like a video game is fun, but it does reduce the engagement of the driving experience for me. Maybe I'm getting old, but employing and refining driving skills is more important to me than going around the corner or launching to 60 as fast as computer-assisted possible.

I want to be a *driver* not just a steerer.

A convertible is also coming. The powered roof panel retracts into a separate compartment behind the driver (in front of the engine), and I believe the rear window is powered also. Vert pricing is rumored to be about 5K more. Plus I read that the C8 is about five inches longer and three inches wider than a C7.

Is a DCT transmission so although you do not have a third pedal you can actually shifted under your command.
CHOPTOP I will have to verify that is actually longer by 5 inches. It is certainly wider than my C7. Very well done and price wise think about Ferrari, Ford GT, and other exotics from Europe and here in the US and you have a winner, it should sell very well.
Below is the one I configured.

Derivative is probably the best way to describe it, and some have said a little busy. However I believe that Chevrolet managed to walk a fine line between keeping it looking like a Corvette while at the same time moving it to a mid engine platform.

I'm also expecting that Chevrolet will introduce a mid and high end versions with different fascias and other elements to differentiate if from the base Stingray. I just read Chevy will be using a LS7TT (Z06?), but the LS isn't from the LS family, but is based on the 4.2 Cadillac Blackwing engine. However the Blackwing places it's turbo between the cylinder heads (hot V), whereas the LS7TT will go the more traditional route of placing the turbos on the sides of the block. Then of course the ultimate model (ZR1/Zora) is rumored to add electric motors to the front wheels to bring it up to 1000HP. That seems hard to believe but if 0-60 takes less than three seconds with the base Corvette I can only imagine what the higher end models will do.

I'm going to resist buying a new mid engine Corvette until I get to see the Lotus Evija released next year.
The Solstice will be my sporty ride for now. The Solstice gets better fuel mileage than the new Corvette. Maybe I'll just stick with the Solstice...

Well being a Vette person for most of my life, I had to give in and look at the video. Good looking car. Still would want to wait a couple of model years before I jumped on one. Will be too old and rickety by that time so will never have one.

Latin let us know when you get yours!!!!!

Dimension wise I've always liked smaller sports car (160-170ish). Anything over 175 falls into the GT category for me.

https://www.automobilemag.com/news/2...nsions-torque/
On its tall “backbone” chassis designed to make for a more direct, better balanced sports car, the C8 is nearly a half-foot longer than the front-engine C7. The C8 is 182.3 inches long overall (up 5.6 inches) and rides on a 107.2-inch wheelbase (up by 0.5 inch). It’s 76.1 inches wide ( an increase of 2.2 inches) and 48.6 inches tall (down by 0.2 inch). All comparisons are against the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe. The 992 Porsche 911 Carrera S is 177.9 inches long overall and has a 96.5-inch wheelbase; it’s also 72.9 inches wide and 50.8 inches tall.

Chevrolet lists the C8 Corvette Stingray coupe’s curb weight at 3,366 pounds, 68 heavier than the ’18 Stingray coupe and 16 pounds lighter than the new 911 Carrera S.
