I didn't take offense at any of the above comments about distance. As I said, there are always people who won't be able to make it. I just wanted folks to know that travel distance / time was something we put a lot of thought into when we selected our location.

I'm not sure what seven hour driving days are like either, unless if it's a long run at an event. I've been known to leave WV right after work, drive 14 hours and show up in Oklahoma to surprise my mom for a birthday breakfast or make it to Norman for Sooners tailgating and football. But then again, you and I are definitely not normal and some people prefer not to take it a little easier

Cool

I want to stay at SolNuts house!

A day and a half for us. Nice trip to a part of the country that we have not visited before. What's not to like?

Good job and thanks for stepping up. We are good to go.

Sorry Rob, it's a very small house with only a 525 sq-ft Solstice Den.

Trip should only take a day....It's downhill all the way

Sooner, please expand or retract this line which may scare off more sensitive members.

Visions of possum belly and squirrel brains may just thrill the imaginations into non-action and excuse making, i.e.:"Its too far..!"

Moonshine and promises of biscuits with sorghum might better lure attendees.

Surprises on the menu could backfire like a Kappa with a dirty MAF sensor.

I am jesting here somewhat, but we won't be missing this NASSM regardless of the cuisine!

Stage 1 supercharged for 8 years and over 165,000 mi.

Everyone can put aside any concerns they might have that I was referring to questionable and stereotyped backwoods hillbilly cuisine. I was referring to the kind of southern fare I would find at my grandmother and grandfather's table in small town Arkansas as a kid We're inviting a few hundred of our closest friends to dinner at NASSM, we promise we won't let you all down. (Unless you're counting on shine, in which case you are on your own).

1st ever

This would be my first ever, but I would make the drive for this event. If this becomes reality, I'd like to know. My significant other, and I would enjoy a getaway. I promised her some fun in this car! Don't let me down on this one.

It's a reality, the hotel contracts are already signed

Everywhere is down hill from my house. it's still a day and a half with a caravan of old farts and trailers.

And if you move your well traveled hard top out, I'm sure Punisher will fit.

I would need to move the Honda mower outside AWA 'Double Naught Sixty Nine' to get your trailer with the Punisher to fit.

Probably not going to happen.

Besides I am ~3 hours ESE of Rogers, AR where the Event hotel is located.

Will be happy to see you again!

The Arkansas Traveler

Once upon a time in Arkansas,
An old man sat in his little cabin door.
And fiddled at a tune that he liked to hear,
A jolly old tune that he played by ear.

It was raining hard, but the fiddler didn't care,
He sawed away at the popular air,
Tho' his rooftree leaked like a waterfall,
That didn't seem to bother the man at all.

A traveler was riding by that day,
And stopped to hear him a-fiddlin away;
The cabin was a-float and his feet were wet,
But still the old man didn't seem to fret.

So the stranger said "Now the way it seems to me,
You'd better mend your roof," said he.
But the old man said as he played away,
"I couldn't mend it now, it's a rainy day."

The traveler replied, "That's all quite true,
But this, I think, is the thing to do;
Get busy on a day that is fair and bright,
Then patch the old roof till it's good and tight."

But the old man kept on a-playing at his reel,
And tapped the ground with his leathery heel.
"Get along," said he, "for you give me a pain;
My cabin never leaks when it doesn't rain."

Notice: Please be forewarned that Grandpa's tongue is frequently planted firmly in his cheek.

You know, we (my bride and I, plus a dozen or so Kappas from around the country) did a run out of Broken Arrow once. From Tarp Chapel to the Hampton over at the Spirit Bank Event Center in Bixby, down the river, over to Ollie's Train Station to eat, up to the Route 66 bridge in downtown Tulsa, out around Keystone and Skiatook Lakes, back over to 169 and down to the Spirit Bank Event Center for a reception. That was a pretty good day.
