special car for sale soon - price opinion wanted

Hello

New member here - I am going to be selling soon a 2007 Solstice 5MT grey, leather interior, always garaged and covered and has only ~6000 original kilometers. The car belonged to my father in law who is recently deceased. He purchased the car new.

All service records ,keys, and original documentation are available and the car was always serviced at the dealer. All original, but I am not sure about all of the built-in factory options.

I am given the task to sell the car and will list it likely at the end of the week once I receive all of the paperwork. The car will be in Aurora
Ontario.

Thought I would ask the people in the know what is a reasonable ask for the car and also to provide a true enthusiast a first crack at the car prior to listing it formally. I will likely have the car in my possession next weekend.

Thanks for any opinions.

Bill

Probably not the best place to try and sell your car as most if not all members have one . Your best bet is something like Craigslist , Autotrader , Ebay etc or the Canadian versions . As for price bottom line is what are you willing to take for it when you have an interested party $5,000 ,$10,000 ,$15,000 ? is it an NA (base) or GXP (turbo charged ) big difference in price a couple of thousand for similarly equipped cars . Another thing you have to take into consideration is this is the time of year when many people in the northern states start thinking of storing these cars for the winter and anyone who is seriously considering buying one now is looking for a deal because of that fact .Hard to give you any more specifics with out addition information Good Luck !

I'm guessing this is a Canadian 2.4 and more than likely has most options? 6000 Kilometer = approximately 3728 miles, which as you know is very low. Pricing is difficult because while it's basically a new car it also is a 10 year old used car. I'd price it between 15 to $17,000 (USA). However, at that price you're going to be competing against turbo GXPs w/moderate miles. If you're looking for a quick sale, then I'd price it between 12 to $13,500.

If this was mine, I'd be highlighting that it's low-mileage, a one owner car, that comes w/all service records and documentation. I'd also take a couple dozen pictures top up, top down, front, side 3/4 views, engine, and underbody. Honestly, there's no such thing as too many pictures when it comes to selling a car.

Also, the Solstice is a niche car, and it may take several months to sell, plus winter is approaching which isn't the best time of the year to be selling a convertible. You might want to consider advertising it on Hemmings since that publication is geared toward collectors and auto hobbyist. In real estate the saying is location, location, location, w/selling cars it's about exposure, exposure, exposure, so I'd consider listing it on Ebay w/no expectation of it selling. Good luck.

Ah, but we get a lot of low mileage convertibles because they don't get driven much up here

Hopefully the, in limbo, passenger airbag sensor will not effect your sale. Good luck with your sale.

But we have snowmobiles and atv's for a change of pace plus we don't have to deal with earthquakes ,firestorms ,drought ,mudslides ,excessive heat ,ridiculous cost of living and the list goes on . One of the greatest pleasures I get is driving my car on a cool crisp fall day ,plus the winter months gives us time to work on our cars and in the spring when we break them out it's like driving a new car again .

To make it easier on a US buyer, get all the recalls taken care of at the dealer before putting it up for sale. Then in your ad, make sure you say all recalls have been performed.

Steelmess. Problem is there has been no solution from gm on the passenger airbag sensor. It appear they won't let them across border with a outstanding recall.
