Plus another option. Most of the big name sled guys use this way their not out there to lose. I broke in motors all kinds of ways cant tell one way or the other. One common factor is vary the RPM which I always do. My last truck right to the E Way steady speed but kept switching between 6 5 and 4th gear all the way home. I seem to get better gas mileage over the same run than most now. Did it help IDK

Use the cheap crap for 1000 miles, then put the good stuff in.

personaly on my new engines after the 40 min breakin in time and oil/filter change I drive it like a stole it but limiting the rpm till I get a few heat cycles on the springs. roller motors are not as sentive as flat tapper cam engines as they have special cam lube that does clog up the filter in about 40~60 min depending on whoo sloped it on the cam&lifters. and that stuff is still flowing through the engine on the 3rd oil/ filter change. thus the need for more changes sooner. roller motors dont have that issue, just the debris(mettle) shed off the rings/cylinders from breakin. witch also can clog the filter. as I said before. oil&filters are cheep. if you think it's expensive to do it 2 times in the first week....try a offshore power boat 600+ ci 800+hp that holds 14-16 qt...and needs min of 3 oil& filter changes before the customer takes it for the weekend.then another oil&filter change the next monday or tuesday. and most of those boats have 3 engines....so 16x 3 x 3 or x4 not cheep. but the engines are quite pricey. $ 10,000 just to go through one that isant broken......I sure miss it, retirement is boring & tiresome.
