Yes, and only if I have to park in a small parking lot, use them basically for insurance. They are dorky, but if it saves the car from dings I'm OK looking like a dork. They are very sturdy and well made. They do come with a security cable that is closed in the door. I don's use it because if someone did yank it off it would probably damage the door.

Here some thin ones that can be ordered in color:
Z3 Bras, Stone Guards, Door Guards, more

Woo Hoo! Received an email from Smoothline (11/19/14) letting me know that the safety glass/defogger rear window is expected in next week (11/24-28/14).

The Club Racer hardtop has been finished for several weeks now (ordered 8/1/14) but hasn't been able to be completed due to rear window being on backorder.

WooHoo
FedEx freight just dropped off my Smoothline Club Racer hardtop today (12/11/14). Damn, the top looks friggin tiny.

My plan for this winter is to take the hardtop, GXP fascia, Norms GXP front splitter, and OEM black door handles into a body shop so that everything can be painted together at the same time. No timeframe other than wanting to install everything by Spring of 2015. The J2 polished wheels, and the red heritage replica stripe should help offset the murdered out look.

I also have a set of the old Aftershock recessed grills that are no longer produced. I'm thinking of having the outer recessed parts hydro dipped in chrome, and the inner hexagon grills painted semi-gloss black in order to make Pontiac's split grill feature stand out.

A few weeks ago I found and bought OEM aluminum dead pedals via Nally GMC, and a used copy (Ebay) of the Solstice Performance soft cover book.

Sorry RTE, no pics. A new digital camera is on the want list for next year. Our old one bit the dust a few years ago.

Thank you Mrs. Santa.

Thanks NS, your top is what helped convince me to buy one.

Sorry for the length of this post folks, I'm thinking out loud to myself here. Visualizing and putting into words helps me to remain focused on the changes that I'd like to do with this car someday. God willing.

For Christmas (2014) my wife surprised me buying me a DDM short throw shifter that was part of their 12 days of Christmas sale.

I have a ultra wife. Thank you dear.

This is the basic look I'm going for. Except the windshield/tulip panel, and headlights are already blacked out (chrome door handles will be switched out to black gloss handles), and the red Heritage/Street Edition vinyl stripe that's already on the car will be added to the hardtop. I'm going for the classic hotrod combo of a black exterior w/red accents, and polished wheels.

Oh yeah, and a new hood too. I've been thinking about ordering a Norms low profile hood for sometime in the future, but lately been wondering if buying a used OEM hood and molding in an aftermarket scoop would be the way to go to save several hundred dollars. OEM used hoods and aftermarket scoops (I'd mold it in) are relatively cheap compared to Norms hood, and I do like the idea that a OEM hood should fit perfectly. Though Norms hood can be ordered to be functional, which is a big plus.

Also, would like to have the interior changed to red someday (except the boomerang), and of course either supercharging the 2.4, or better yet having a V8 w/a electronic Hilborn fuel injections stacks sticking out of the hood just a little.

Wow Chop, I think it is going to look amazing. My 2 cents....if you are going to go with a hood go with Norm's. The combo of the hood and hard top together give the Sol a really aggressive look. As I have mentioned in other posts once I had Norm readjust my hood fitament is not an issue. It fits perfectly.

I've been kicking this idea around for a while , my first thought being a cowl induction scoop like those used on Camaros and Chevelles . I came across this idea after looking back at the Solbra pictures I have it was built by Wades Garage a few years back but he never sold any of the body parts separately.Tony D. Branda who sells Mustang and Cobra stuff has a glass repop Cobra scoop that I think would look good on a stock hood and its only 82 bucks .

I took the Smoothline Club Racer hardtop, GXP fascia, Norms GXP front splitter, and Aftershock recessed grills to five different area body shops for paint estimates.

1. $934.01
2. $997.51
3. $792.52
4. 1392.59
5. $1500.00

I plan on dropping the parts off next week. As of right now I'm leaning toward the $792 bid, but not just because its the lowest, but mainly because it's also the oldest body shops in town, and I've had other work done there before and been satisfied with their work. I let all the body shops know that they could take their time and do the job at their leisure, and a couple of them told me they would factored that into their estimates.

I'm really looking forward to installing everything on the car for this years driving season, and tweaking small things here and there design wise. Performance wise I still have to install the Werks adjustable sway bars, and definitely start thinking about a new set of tires either this year or next. Hopefully in the future I'd like to start thinking about engine upgrades. While my first choice is a V8 I may have to settle (Grrrr) for supercharging the 2.4. When you're paying for things with cash (i.e. no loans), it takes a lot longer to get a car to the point you want to get it too.

Update: Dropped all of the parts on 3/16/15, everything will be painted black to match the color of the car. Except the recessed grills, I'm having the outer rings painted bright silver, and then will add a thin stripe of chrome vinyl on the very outer edge, and the inner grills will be painted semi gloss black. I really want that sucker to pop out.

Wow! I think she will look amazing. Can't wait to see pictures. I am busting mine out of hibernation in two days. First thing me and my buddy do is put on the Hard Top. Next, we are going to boost the battery and then I drive to my dealership to get a new one installed.
