After-market Air Cleaners?

I just got Bebop2. It came with one of them K&N air filters that you have to spray with some kind of oil.

Do any of you'all have that and how is it working for you?

I had one on a Tacoma truck and took it off because the oil on it was fowling out the sensitive air detectors
.
This one lays way up front in the nose of the bug.

What do you think?

There are some good 'dry' filters available for our cars... got one with my CAI from DDMworks.

I dont use the oil made for them. I do sparay with a wd40 type stuff lightly on the engines I have that uses that type of filter. they flow more dry than wet, but they filter better when wet..k&n filters are very eazely effed up if cleaned rong. I also run outrer wears on my k&n stuff( it's a pre filter that gop's over the filter.)they stay much kleener much .longer with the outerwear's ( not made for the type of filter in our cars, but they do for the cai filters)

The stock filters work great. They are inexpensive. I used K&N in my dirt bike but not my Kappas

If you apply the oil to the filter as directed, you won't have problems with the K&N. I have dealt with them for over 40 years. Have never had any problems. One key is to apply the oil and allow it to dry for a day or two. It does not take a lot of oil. Most people seem to saturate the filter, then you have problems for sure.

I used one for about two years, then put the GMPP CAI on the car. But the original filter works just fine as RTE has stated. I think I read something on this site about the stock air filter flowing more air than the K&N, but could be wrong.

Aftermarket CAI are pretty much just for show and a bit more intake noise I have a GM Performance one on my car that I run dry with a sock over it .When I change my oil I blow it clean with my compressor and inspect it my daily drivers are replaced every year they are not that expensive .

Thanks for the Info. Just want to get to know you all. Don't worry, I will not try to dominate the conversation!

I'll try to find a dry filter that fits the aluminun tube. Maybe that'll get me a bit better mileage as well.

That Toyota truck, I had to modify it with a couple of plumbing parts from the hardware store. But now its easy to remove the paper filter and blow out from the inside. But the Slostice there's no room for that.

The last guy had it pen-striped all around and named it "Sweeite" I was going to remove it and buff it out but my wife insisted that I keep it.

Bebop2 (Sweetie) replaces Bebop which was a 1952 MGTD replica car, a 1986 english Ford Escort I had for 25 years. Bebop2 is great! Fuel injection! Electronic ignition! Kick-asp heater! Cruise Control! Air conditioning!!!!!! The MG was more like Flying but the Solstice is without question a superior car.

That guy who reported on the Allentown auction makes me feel Good. I recently bought a 2008 with 29,000 miles for $10,000 But I got it from a gal whose husband died of cancer so I figured she needed the money so I gave her what she was asking. It is almost like a new car and not a ding or mark on it. It had the original tires and were still real good but I put a new set of Generals on it. You all look at the page about Hydroplaning. It's the extra wide tires that causes hydroplaning, and some are better than others, well you know the score!
