stuck Sorry, dunno the part number. The fine folks at Anderson's Automotive took care of it and I wrote them a check.

AC compressor whine

I recently replaced my A/C compressor and refilled the system. I haven't had A/C for about a year (it wasn't the highest priority).

Now, with the A/C on, I have an obnoxious whining sound when accelerating. It's like a turbo sound, but about half an octave lower. Observations:

1. Sound is directly linked to RPM
2. Only happens with A/C on
3. Doesn't start until about a minute after the A/C is turned on
4. Engine idles rougher with the A/C on.

It's been suggested that there may be too much refrigerant in the system, making the compressor work harder.

Suggestions? And please don't say "take it to the shop." That never ends well.
