  1. Odd turbo behavior and smell

    Mods - Engine 2.0 Turbo
Could be your catalytic converter. I had a vacuum hose slip off and caused carbon to build up in my cat. Ran fine under low - mid RPM's but choked when I got into higher RPM's. I also had a bad egg smell all the time. If the cat isn't damaged but just gunked up then CRC 05063 Guaranteed To Pass...
  2. Install intercooler from underneath instead of removing front fascia

    Mods - Engine 2.0 Turbo
It's the gearhead in me that wonders if there is another way. I know it's been done but can't remember what the difficulties were relative to the fascia removal method.
  3. Install intercooler from underneath instead of removing front fascia

    Mods - Engine 2.0 Turbo
I know I 've read in one of the Solstice or Sky forums that it's possible to install an aftermarket intercooler from underneath the front instead of removing front fascia. I've tried searching for this topic but have come up empty. Has anyone attempted this? I would rather not remove the...

  5. For those with aftermarket or gutted manual transmission shifter rattle ...

    General Solstice Discussion
The JPM shifter is threaded so just find out the thread size and find a shift knob that uses the same thread size. The TWM shift knobs have a knob for all thread sizes. You could take the JPM knob to the hardware store and see which bolt screws in to determine the thread size.
  6. For those with aftermarket or gutted manual transmission shifter rattle ...

    General Solstice Discussion
I gutted the stock shifter to the bare metal shaft. Search the forum for threads where others have done so. The only down side is the bare shaft is not threaded and you have to file down the two small tabs to make it smooth. Then any universal shift knob will work. They usually have 3 screws...
  7. For those with aftermarket or gutted manual transmission shifter rattle ...

    General Solstice Discussion
I was able to eliminate most, if not all annoying high rpm shift and 5th gear cruising rattle from my gutted OEM shifter by installing an NRG Heavy Weighted Shift Knob (480g or 1.1lb). If you want even heavier, check out Shift Knobs | TWM Performance Shift Knob Store. They have 520g and 600g...

Solstices and Parts for Sale/Want to Buy
Looking for a good condition used aftermarket intercooler for the GXP.
  9. Plastidip eyelids

    Mods - Interior/Exterior Functional/Appearance
I added some new pics with different angles.
  10. Plastidip eyelids

    Mods - Interior/Exterior Functional/Appearance
I did mask around the hood area too. I used painters tape and carefully taped between the hood and headlamp. There is enough space to slide the tape in between and fold over. Then just use newspaper to mask around the area.
  11. Plastidip eyelids

    Mods - Interior/Exterior Functional/Appearance
I'll take more when I get the car out of the driveway. Too many cars and angles are limited. Make sure you peel off the masking over the front of the headlamp right after the last coat so you don't have to trim the paint with a razor. Mine are a bit jagged but hey I can always peel and repaint.
  12. Plastidip eyelids

    Mods - Interior/Exterior Functional/Appearance
I used gray plastidip to create eyelids on the Sol. Wanted to get people's thoughts - keep or remove?
  13. Solo Hi-Flow Cat question

    Mods - Engine 2.0 Turbo
I have the stock GXP exhaust with the Solo HF cat. No drone at all at highway speeds but nice sounding low grumble at low RPMs.
  14. Help - Need advice on possible blown piston ring

    General Tech, Solstice GXP Specific
I don't need to get it fixed right away so I'm trying to find a reputable shop (not dealer) and see what kind of financial commitment I would have to make before deciding. If anyone knows a good shop in the DC/MD/VA area that knows LNF's or if there is someone who knows the ins and outs of these...
  15. Help - Need advice on possible blown piston ring

    General Tech, Solstice GXP Specific
Hi - I'm seeking advice on the least expensive alternatives to get my car back running. I'm getting smoke out the tailpipes and very rough idle. I pulled the plugs and one of them was coated in oil and the catch can was full of yellowish oil (possibly mixed with coolant). The car will be...
  16. HELP!!! I have no idea how to replace this part

    Solstice GXP Discussion
I fixed mine with a liberal amount of epoxy. Been over a year now and still holding strong.

  18. Heating up at a stop :(

General Tech, Platform Common Issues & Solutions
Just had the coolant changed and thermostat replaced last month. Noticed my temps used to be around 199-204 and a week ago went to 205-214. I even did the DDM procedure to get the air out of the system and still getting up to 214 degrees. I went to grease my bushing today and noticed tons of...
  19. WTB: infamous flimsy cup holder

Solstices and Parts for Sale/Want to Buy
I just bought the ebay one for the Sky recently. Just swap the black cover for the silver cover. Fit perfectly on my Sol. There is an extended piece on the body of the cupholder but doesn't affect the shift boot.
  20. DIC:: SERVICE AIR BAG - Familiar to anyone?

General Tech, Platform Common Issues & Solutions
I ordered the part from gmpartsgiant.com and installed it myself. I then went to the dealer to get the air bag reset. They charged me $125 for the scan and reset but it worked. One thing I noticed is that the sensor on the pad was made in China while the original was made in Luxemborg.
