All Solstices and Skys are good buys!!
Well, not really!

Sellow if you are on a tight budget, then you will not find much for under 10. But if you can spring a little more you can do a lot better. There are a lot of nice cars these days for sale by forum members.

There are a few more for more cash but if you can hold off then I would say be particular. If you want this one at least read through these threads and check it all out, or have someone you trust check it out.
Both of these following links are of course courtesy of Rob the elder.

That price is a bit steep for the miles, I have seen much better deals for the 06's.

Also, something to ponder, the 06's don't have power door lock buttons on the inside. If you plan to drive the car frequently, or as a daily driver, that will quickly become a pain in the butt.

I would look at '07 and '08 GXP's. They have all the options as standard, and very good deals can be had.

I haven't seen this car in my area for awhile I guess that's why it was priced so high but are they reliable
At 97,000 miles there are going to be potential maintenance items that crop up. If you only have 10 grand to spend on a car and money is tight to insure and keep it on the road, then you should buy a newer, lower mileage car like a focus or cobalt.

They guys telling you to buy a GXP for your first car are nuts. It will get you in trouble and I would gather that insurance will be higher.

This car is not for fat lazy folk who want to eat, drink while driving. If you are fit and trim there are no hassles using the controls.

The solstice is one of the sexiest chick cars out there. The girls will be all over you with this car.

My 2006 was totaled in April with 88k on it and the insurance company gave me $13,000 for it. They do hold thier value well. I loved my 2006 NA and it had the typical issues. Loud AC, variable timing selinoids had to be replace at around 65K (easy DIY) and then the cat had to be replaced around 82K but the Cat is covered by GM to 100k Miles.

Other than these minor issues it is a great car and you will love it.

As twowheeladdict states, if you are heavy on the thottle the GXP will get you in trouble. (but it is fun !!!!!! )

Welcome to the forum ! Some things you need to look at before buying if it's from a private owner does he have records on the car's maintenance the two things I would be concerned about are oil changes and the antifreeze should be flushed and replaced at least every 5 years . Is he the original owner ? the general overall condition of the car will tell you a lot about how the car was maintained dents, scratches, dirty carpet ,worn out seats ,tires ,is the engine compartment clean? Where do you live ? as the price of these cars fluctuates in different parts of the country .A non turbo car which is what you are looking at has less issues than a turbo car but you are giving up the performance aspect .The price does not seem to out of line if the car is in good condition with some haggling room built in .Another thing that could work in your favor if you are paying cash if you walk up to him and start around 7 grand who knows money talks bottom line if the car checks out and you like it buy it and enjoy the ride!
